I hope you guys can help me out with this. I have some clients over from Japan and I took them out drinking last night where they enjoyed their fair share of Turkish Raki, a drink made with anaseed. They would not understand what the corresponding plant was and I promised them that I will find out the word for it in Japanese.

So does anyone here know what anaseed is in Japanese? Thanks a lot in advance.

    Do you mean "aniseed"?

    anisu-yu

    That's a Roman-ji anisu (anise) with a Kanji yu (abura/oil).

    Hope this helps.
