    Chapter 1

?Focus on the here and now,? Qui Gon reminded.

?But master Yoda said to be mindful of the future,? Obi-Wan quipped.
As he said it Obi-Wan realized that he did tend to look beyond what he was doing now and needed to give his best efforts now. It was not meant to be a rebuke but a reminder.
He realized however that he tended to rely on his training and reflexes to get the job done. Because of this he tended to get the job done while daydreaming of the next time he and Garen would get together to relate adventure stories. He would daydream of his past and in his quiet nights even ponder Siri.

Obi-Wan made a silent pledge to focus on how to do things better in the here and now.
Although he realized that as he made the pledge he had not been following the course of the conversation following Qui Gons reminder.

Inside the Nemoidian Control room the Viceroy squirmed under the directions of the Sith Lord.

    ?Kill them,? Lord Sidius commanded.

?What about the legal matters in the Senate?? the viceroy asked.

?I will determine what happens in the Senate.? It was all Sidius promised as he cut the transmission.

The nemoidian communications technician closed his end of the transmission and stored the record in the local memory. The Viceroy liked to keep track of these things. He would encrypt this series later after the invasion had taken place.

A transport explodes in the hanger, two Jedi are alerted, and gas fills the conference chamber.
??Roger, roger? the battle droid reported.
As the door opened two blades were that final things his optical sensors would process.

Qui-Gon and Obi Wan ran the corridors of the ship, cutting down droids at every confrontation. Obi Wan let his reflexes and training handle the stress of the combative situation and enjoyed the feeling of dipping his conscious into the Force. Here and now he reminded himself as they turned the corner and saw the doors to the bridge of the vessel.

More battle droids approached as Qui-Gon plunged his saber into the blast doors and began to cut an entrance into the bridge. Obi Wan cut down the droids with efficiency and perhaps even a bit of bravado as the hallway was cleared for Qui-Gons efforts.

    Inside the bridge panic ensued.

?Send the Droidekas now!? was the command of hope for the bridge control.

Qui-Gon was further frustrated as the blast doors closed. But he expertly continued the cuts and knew it was only a matter of time.

?Master, Destroyers!!? Obi Wan sounded the alarm.

As he shouted he realized his fear. Destroyers were shielded and fired multiple bursts and would be a challenge in this situation. What will we do now, Obi Wan thought? The promise he made himself earlier of here and now surfaced.

Obi Wan did not stop to ponder strategies and future scenarios as he reached out with the Force and touched the droids rolling towards them. Obi Wan pushed the lead Destroyer as it rolled into the path of the second.

The first Destroyer (DI) steered off course. Internal circuitry identified pressure against its desired path. The internal gyroscope compensated and power was shifted to allow it to resume its desired course. Additional power was needed as it was in the course of Destroyer II (DII). The additional power surged it back on course, but then the pressure against the droid was released.

The result was DI veering into the hallway wall while DII completed its final rotations prior to powering up its shields. Destroyer I was lifted and tossed against the shielding of D II. DII was about to commence firing when DI had broken the shielding and spasmed as it tried to regain a lock on the two Jedi targets.

Destroyer II signaled to DI to reboot limb control to enable it to fire at the targets without distraction. DI acknowledged the signal. The optics of b
