True, but I think everything ultimately hinges on the story and the writing. The problem with Kingdom of the Crystal Skull was not Harrison Ford or his performance.

I thought KOTCS was a fun movie. Certainly better than TOD.

Crystal Skull wasn't terrible, no... not as bad as many said. But better than Temple of Doom? That I disagree with! :p

Exactly. The writing is the most important thing. My opinion on things of importance in order is this
    1. Script/Story/Directing *I'm grouping them all together cause why not*
    2. New character acting/ability to take over the franchise
    3. Old cast
    4. The rest of it *visuals/action/marketing/ect*
Yes I put the new cast above the old cause *whether some fans want to admit it or not* the new cast matters more. Dont get me wrong the OT are important...but getting the new ones right should be the higher priority. And its funny to see some peoples responses *my fave being the "episode 7 all for OT cast then introduce the new cast in episode 8-9" or "OT main cast. New cast supporting" which is not moving your franchise forward IMO*

TOD had an unbearable female lead.

I'm gonna jump on the "I hate Willie Scott" bandwagon if I can. That movie is unwatchable because of her IMO.

Agreed Crystal Skull wasn't terrible, Yeah some parts (Nuke the Fridge) were a bit unbelievable but that's Indiana Jones!

I liked Cate Blanchett as the villain too.

Call me crazy, but I liked the fridge scene. It was awesome. Certainly better than jumping out of a plane with a life raft.

I think the fridge scene is over-criticized too. The aliens and the flying saucer at the end were a bigger stretch for me.

Exactly! The first half of the movie is really fun and I like it a lot. Once they get into the jungle, however, things start to go down hill fairly quickly. Don't even get me started on the Soviet-hating monkeys.

As for Temple of Doom, I really enjoy it. It was actually my favorite growing up. Although, I have to admit that Willie Scott and her screaming has become a bit of a joke.

Who else is excited for May 4th to pass just like any other day with absolutely no Episode VII news?

You know, with the way things have been going, that wouldn't surprise me in the least. :p

I suspect there actually will be some kind of news out of the ROTJ screening in Hollywood. I originally didn't think there would be any news but they have apparently invited media to the 10am invitation only showing. Also, it's being put on by EW and Lucasfilm has a history of giving scoops to EW.

I think they will announce the Big 3 on May 4th. I said it before and I'll stick to it. If not we may need to start another countdown to ripping our hair out! :p

Looks like the early reviews for Star Trek Into Darkness are pretty positive (ignore that moronic Yahoo news article, there's nothing "mixed" about it - Trek fans are just mad they're making good Star Trek films instead of people standing around for hours talking fictional politics).
RT has an 88% with 12 reviews and 2 negative, and I generally just ignore IMDB scores.

I tend to think they will announce something related to Episode VII tomorrow too... possibly even a Big 3 announcement, but maybe something else related to the movie. This is partly because the official site is making quite a big deal about May the 4th this year, more than I remember in the past.

Yep, my thinking exactly. Also the "History of May 4th" article that they posted specifically mentioned Episode VII.

Well if they do, I hope every Mod on TF.N is on full alert, because this place will be a 'pox party' of Newbies...
