** - Nikkica: The scene where Jessica and Nikki are talking in the mirror, really didn't give me much of a difference of personality between them as I'm used to seeing. This might mean that they're finding a common balance, Jessica gentler and maternal in this, Nikki proactive in sending Jessica with DL. If they're becoming one persona again, I'm calling her Nikkica. Then Nikki (eventually).

 

Great news: they're filling the next mid-season hiatus with a spinoff! Each episode of Heroes: Origins will introduce a new character. We, The Fans, can vote which newcomer will graduate to the main series. It's an ingenious way to keep viewers' interest. If it asks for your active participation, it would be very difficult to pass off as "filler".

I feel like I ought to be cynical of applying the American Idol method to a legitimate story, but by fanboy impulse has taken over: this is just freaking cool. They did it in the eighties with Jason Todd. They're doing it now with Jacen Solo. Cunning publicity stunt or not, it's great to be able to influence the direction of a story.

 

Oh, so that's how it's going to work, it's going to be during the hiatus. I was wondering how Origins was going to fit into the scheduling. Sweeeeeeeet. Colour me excited also.

Holy Crap, we have ourselves a high bodycount in this episode.

Someone is finally labelled a villain.

Is that how George W. rigged it in Florida?

Apparently swordsmiths specialising in repairing ancient Samurai weaponry are common in New York.

We learn how Hiro becomes a sword master. Sulu's got game, and a legacy he's been waiting to have fulfilled. Good speech on that.

So that's why Linderman wasn't around in the future...

So it looks like we're building up a roster for what I'm calling, for want of a better term, the Original Justice League, Linderman's group of friends who went about doing good, righting wrongs and healing the world. The only one we know is Linderman, but we can take guesses at other. Kaito Nakamura seems a likely candidate, and Linderman claims that Petrelli Senior was one of them too. Not sure if I believe it or not, but we've got sufficient evidence for super powers running in families. Angela Petrelli is a candidate too, just given what she knows about things, but it's perfectly possible that that's just because she and Linderman go way back. Regardless, I'm finding myself very curious about the old crew, and would love to hear some stories about what they got up to in the glory days.

And speaking of Linderman... ouch. Now that's what I call getting ganked. And you're not wrong about the body count in general, Magnus. Though it's nothing on how many are scheduled to die tomorrow...

Yay, Audrey's back. I always liked her. No doubt she'll have a veryminor but nevertheless pivotal part to play in helping our Heroes next ep.


God, we're up to the last episode of the season. What the hell are we all going to do with ourselves?

 

Likewise again with the Molly Walker tracking system. DOH. Bennett will not kill her. Maybe use her?

And the symbol in the yellow pages for the convenient samurai sword fixer? When do we learn what the symbol is all about!

Okay..so did Hiro just learn to fight in an afternoon or is it part of his powers, something he knows from his future self? ( jsut threw taht in to annoy the time theorists amongst us)

Peter hearing Sylar hearing them..just so cool! A few amazing moments of Sylar in this one. The armoured car flip! Him jsut being around when you least expected it. LAst scene. GREAT STUFF.

The way Lindeman died was SO GROSS and so unexpected! YEY for DL, but woh..how powerful does that make him in a fight. I reckon he'll survive. Til tomorrow at least.
And yes the OLD SCOOBY GANG is very intriguing. A very Mrs and James Potter's friends feel about it to me.. but that's me. Is Nathan's Mum doing all this to get Nathan power, or does she still have huge agendas like Linderman...err did. And btw, can't he heal things? Why is he dead?

Loved Matt parkmans line " a simple no would've done". It hurts my brain how so many people who should jsut be working together are jsut on all sorts of opposite sides. Girl from the FBI, Matt and Bennet, Peter and Nathan, Jessica and DL. How strong would they be all together! Although I guess that might be the point.

So much else to remember and talk about.Do you think that's where we lose Jessica altogether? I'm sure thre's more.

When do we learn what the symbol is all about!

Roughly 10 episodes ago. Specifically, when Ando succinctly explained that it was a combination of the Japanese characters for "godsend" and "special talent." So it basically means "super power." Kaito put the symbol in the phone book and on the store because he knew Hiro would be looking for it, and would need it eventually.

How rude. Well, 3 possibilities. First, he did learn it in one afternoon. Little far-fetched perhaps, but not completely impossible. Number 2, Hiro used his powers to give them time. We know for a fact he can freeze time, for himself and quite possibly for others as well. If he was able to put himself and his father in a bubble of frozen time, they would have had weeks, months, even years to practice swordplay. Or three, Kaito used whatever his power is (if he does indeed have one, which seems more likely than not) to somehow facilitate it. Who knows, maybe the training sequence was all in Hiro's mind, projected into his thoughts in the space of a few seconds, like when Neo famously learns Kung Fu in the Matrix.

Ultimately it's not important, but there you go.


btw, can't he heal things? Why is he dead?

Well, he can heal other things. Perhaps not himself. And regardless, he'd just had his brain smooshed, so I don't think he was in much of a state to really be doing anything in particular other than bleeding from the eyeballs and falling to the floor in a heap, which he rocked at.

And speaking, again, of Linderman, what was everyone else's reaction when he healed Heidi? Mine was "You bastard, you fraking bastard." Because he's the one who put her in the wheelchair in the first place, when his goons ran their car off the road six months earlier. And Nathan KNOWS that, or should know. But he's let himself be bought by it, it just cemented his dedication to Linderman's plan. Hiro was right when he called Nathan a villain. His comic-book-simple way of looking at the world isn't always best, but sometimes it's just plain right. I'm reasonably sure Nathan will come good in the end, but right now, with his boss dead, he's the enemy. The bad guy, as Hiro so simply put it.

 

Doh..feel silly as always.

Yes brain smooshes do make it hard to think, and he really did rock at that HA. Yes the symbol was explained a while ago and I'd forgotten that Hiro can freeze time. Yes I like it, I like it alot.

And yet again, the Canadians get the better trailer. Man, there are some lines in there that are very... ominous. The fit is very close hitting the shan.

 

I think I am so glad I don't have to wait the entire week What is it now 5 days? Two days less of agony for me!

So, are we still keen on seeing this together? Even though this week for me is very hectic (last week of job A, 4 hours a day of training at job B, someone's birthday, the state of origin, some Pirate thingy, etcetera), I'd be very keen to "holy crap" with other people for it!
