hey, my name is nate. i've been lurking here for a while and I just signed up and wanted to introduce myself.

I've been working on FX and such since last year, starting with lightsabers and then working into more slightly advanced movie things.

Now for my question, a couple of my friends and I are planning a small saber duel to roto and watch for fun. I'm working at about a speed of 4 secs=3-3 1/2 hours. Is that too long?

Seems long to me, but it depends on how many sabers you've got per scene.

I figure 1 saber should take you about 10 to 20 seconds per frame, and you've got 120 frames in 4 seconds. Thus you would be looking at 20 to 40 minutes for 4 seconds with 1 lightsaber.

Multiply by the number of sabers you have and the number of objects they can go behind.
