I lived in Adelaide last year, wonderful city! Terrible food though, the restaurants could use some work. I missed my American portions.

 

How do portions compare?

Yes, we generally live by the maxim that portion sizes are sensible and that just because you can fit a 1kg steak on a plate doesn't mean you should.

Having eaten in the US your portion sizes are obscene and offensive and wasteful. It's no wonder you're choking the world with your waste.

Also, Adelaide is terrible. Drive 1hr out to the Barossa Valley, one of the best wine making regions in the world. Up there with Bordeaux, Burgundy, Tuscany, Mendoza and Stellenbosch.

Degustation at Hentley Farm was one of my top 10 dining experiences. Add in there a trip to the cellar door at Henschke - I picked up a 2012 Hill of Roses shiraz which I'm aging now, along with a 2012 Hill of Grace which frankly I'm not sure I'd ever drink.

I did go to Barossa Valley, very beautiful. I find wine bottles here in the US from Barossa occasionally and it makes me think fondly of Adelaide.

Not the greatest decision by the High Court today even though I'm delighted that muppet Roberts is gone. We're going to have amend the Constitution though, it just has to be fixed. It's a stupid provision in light of modern Australia and if the High Court are just going to give it a literal and ordinary reading then it's completely unworkable. Not a good week for the government.
