Whats a decent resonably priced camera?

 

I've got a Leica Ricoh something or other... point and click..

nikon f80 has a brilliant exposure module. Way better than the canon has. and it has just gone down in price. plus you can use your old lenses. and for landscape it has a grid that comes on to make sure you get the horizon level if you like that sort of thing. you probably don't need it though sam. I have a f100 and am getting a f80 as a second body. just bought a 18-35 lens from ney york. £200 cheaper than here. and it is the "european import" the canon is godd, but go for the nikon.

 

A leica ricoh? do you mean Lieca R1 or a ricoh? Both excellant cameras. My uncle has my granddad's Leica from 1939. It sits in a cupboard in Aucklan where he lives. I want it. It should be used not sat collecting dust.

 

Erh..i think it's a called a GR1..its got a silver case cost about £500 in Frankfurt 4 years ago..

Leica... one of the most respected camera makers in the world! And damn expensive an' all...

Don't see Ricoh around too much other than point and clicks anymore.

I'll probably stick to Nikon then... though I have to admit I've been more than tempted with an old Canon T-70 more than once from the camera exchange! The F80 sounds damn cool though now!!

Probably Carl Zeiss... most cameras have Carl Zeiss lenses though.

I think Canon and .... uhh.... someone else in Japan, are the only two camera makes that produce their own lenses.... Pentax maybe?

 

German optics are the best. Carl ziess lenses are used on Sony digital camcorders. I hate camcorders but if I got one, it would have to be the sony just for the lens quality. The Leica uses varid elmar lenses.

Check out the lomo site. I wanted a lomo on the plane. all manual but it has four lenses so it exposes the film in quarters four times. it wa £20 on virin planes but they had sold out. The museumof Modern Art in New York had it for $45. It's called the action sampler. But the standard lomo is pretty funky. It has a light meter that is too sensitive so you get psychedelic pics and real fine detail.

well you can mine, cause the sun shines out of it. However, for you Mr Dale, you can use the night vision one.

 

..so can you buy Kaleidoscope lenses for arse photographic work?

 

don't need special lenses, you can make your own Kaleidoscope before you take your photograph......

The lomo is cool! I would spend £20 on one! I also love the little Canon Ixus cameras... but I loath Advantix.

As for arse photography... I'd love to see what a fish-eye lense would do to an arse!

 

How if I had removed a rib, i'm sure there is something else i would try to do first.....

Sam, don't go APS, it is cr@p. The three modes they have, classic, standard and panoramic are just the one format stretched or squashed.

 

I know.. that's why I said I LOATH it!!! I bought the expensive b@$tard for Tasha exactly two weeks before she dumped me too... didn't even get to play with it once!!
