I yam wat I yam.
I have seen better welcome mats round these parts.
LANDO_ROCKS Is also one i haven't heard in a while. Good seeing ya.
I care if Akon announces it.
Guess we'll just keep calm and carry on?
Are the current members closing ranks to prevent any new members?
Quitbies... Used to be a pretty accepting place.
we are just giving people a hard time, it's a time honored jc tradition. also we've probably become a bit sheltered over the years and afraid of change.
i wrote this song for the jcc, but it seems appropriate.
I believe "Cool story bro" is the correct response nowadays?
Some of us even founded the traditions you now pay homage to.
Cool story bro.
Tom has it right... we're just ****ing with you (it's what we do). I'm glad to see old faces.
When I called you bonehead, it wasn't in a derogatory way. I call my closest friends boneheads... it's a playful, in jest kind of thing.
Nah... I spent six years of my life traveling around, following Grateful Dead and Phish. I've seen plenty. I enjoy being a semi shut in, these days.
The nut part, I'll own, though.
Pretentious posturing poser.
That particular phrase is an ancient one. If you ever see clerk, ask him about it. Plus I always liked it.
Clerk is my homie... he was here around September. He's married with a couple of kids, now. I'm sure he'll pop in again, at some point.
we are just messing with people, but i do think it's weird when old posters come back sometimes. in a lot of ways the culture stays the same, but the people have gotten a lot closer in the time you were gone. registration dates, post counts, distinctions like "oldbie" and "newbie"... these things no longer mean anything anymore. a lot of the anonymity of the old days is gone and the people who have stayed have done so because they have a strong bond with this place and the people who call it home.
that's not to say that we aren't as accepting as we once were. i think in some ways we're probably even more so, but to really fit in now is maybe a bit more intimidating and requires more of a commitment. just posting for a few days, maybe a couple weeks really, it's not like you have to pass a test. but it seems like so many people come back and have this attitude like "haha i'm such an oldbie" or "look at these losers they're still here". and then after a few posts they're gone again. you can understand why maybe we've gotten a bit defensive and the development of this new star wars trilogy is simultaneously incredibly exciting and a bit scary.
I hope so. Me and that guy were pretty tight round here for a time.
We can make secret boards, like on 4chan...just picture it. boards.theforce.net/z
Where do I go to petition for more sticky threads?
I can totally understand it. Been there. We had some epic newbie binges with each new release back in the day.
My advice would be just go with it. Some will bring good, many will bring nothing.
Hopefully some of these extreme quitbies will stick around. I can vouch for a few of them.
yeah, i was here for the aotc and rots newbie binges, and remember quite well the older posters pining for the "golden age". hopefully we won't be that bad, lol.
I hope not since I was one of the ones pining, lol.
Perspectives certainly change.
Good talk bro.
(BTW, had a nice Lagunitas IPA on tap tonight... A few actually).
Again, secret boards. Or am I still too new that I don't know about the existing ones?
