Now is the time to approach the Universities. Freshers weeks are just beginning, and people are eager to sign up.

What I'd like is a list of Unis/Colleges in the region. So can people post here the institutions in their local area.

As I've said before, the East Midlands is an untapped resource, so I shall look into that.

But locally we have Lincoln Uni, Bishop Grosseteste University College and Lincoln College. (We also have several more further east which I shall post here)

But I'd like to know about Leicester, Nottingham, Birmingham, Manchester etc

So post the places here and I'll look into contact details so I can approach the Sci-Fi clubs etc

Don't forget the comic shops too - you get your flyers sorted (which reminds me - if you can get some for on the table at Manchester, we can hand them out if you want) then send them out to shops or even better, visit and ask them face to face. I have found most sci-fi shops are happy to have them up, the Forbidden Planets I have asked haven't said no yet.

Check [link=http://boards.theforce.net/midlands/b10718/24699761/p1/]here[/link] for comic shops in the Midlands.

I haven't forgotten Tim, but the best time to strike the Universities is now, when the academic year is beginning :)

Well, for Leicester there would be two major places, Leicester University and De Montfort University.

What details do you need Hal?

In Birmingham, we have Birmingham University, Aston University (I'm sorry, but I will NEVER set foot in this place ever again - actually, I think under the T&C's, I'm actually banned from returning!), UCE, and another for the life of me I can't put my finger on right now! :p

There is also Staffordshire University, University of Nottingham, the unis at Lincoln, and Leicester.

Manchester? A bit northern for us, isn't it?

For flyers on table stuff Mark? Nah, you'll get people travelling from all over. I am not talking loads of flyers here, just enough to hand some out if we get people from Midlands. When people come to the table and chat, we usually asking them where they are from so we can direct them to the right forum for meets. Also, I still have a batch of free comics from DHC to hand out, and flyers can and will be placed in those, so it's up to you if you want to start targeting them.

Phill, I will find out their websites etc, and contact the Student Unions direct (they will make sure I get hold of the societies rep). Being at Uni myself will make that easier :)

Knowing Unis, they have their societies fair either this week or within the next 2 weeks, and then the first meeting (the best attended) takes place a few weeks after that, so it gives us a little time :)

Well having worked for UDSU (university of Derby Student Union) I can tell you its the sstudent unions who run the C&S and its most likely there is some sort of sci fi / fantasy / LARP group.

What about Further Education Colleges? they have 16 plus students. Or is there a minimum age limit?

Warwickshire college ( www.warkscol.ac.uk) Have centres in Henley in Arden, Leamington Spa, Moreton Morrel and Rugby. This college also does degree courses.

Coventry Tile Hill College. and Henley College

    Stratford upon Avon College.

Um, I think most big towns have and FE College.

Not that I have any specific interest in FE or anything !

All my friends are off to Uni now.. I know one is going Leicester and the rest are even further North. How are we planning on doing this? Putting posters up or actually going there and handing stuff to people?

I will contact the Student Unions, and arrange for posters/flyers to be sent there. Most of them have Sci-Fi societies, and I will ask the society to hand them out :)

Right, basic flyers have been sent to all the universities on the map provided by Dave (Thanks again!)

Hopefully we shall see some new blood joining in the coming weeks :)
