Ok, we know that they will be in color(very happy about that).

Dave Land has said they will use the original colors instead or recoloring the whole thing(I have no problem with this).

    Well I have two thoughts.

Well issue 98 "supply and demand", was reprinted with updated color, as the "vandelhelm mission", shouldn't that be the version that makes it into the marvel reprints(becuase the color quality is just so much better)?

Also marvel ANH, and ESB adapations were given recoloring for reprints, several years ago. Well since we know that those issues are going into the marvel reprints, shouldn't they just reprint the updated color reprints(instead of using the old marvel color style)?

You mean they changed there mind again and upgraded to recoloring techniques? If so Yippee.

    You have the source?

I'll go and see if I can get you dave land's quote I was talking about.

    "Yes. Color.

The colors will be reproduced using the original issues as guides.

    --Dave"

    Reproduced, not recolored.

As I said reproduced, not recolored.

For the issues that do have recolored reprints already made, then they should reprint those instead of the original colors.

I feel like the recoloring job in vandelhelm was vastly superior to the original color scheme.

I'm fine with the original color. But that recolor job they did for goodwin for issue 98, will go to waste(considering it has never been in a TPB).

It's been that way for a long time, PEZ!

    Val,
That's already most likely going to be the case. It would be a different story if someone besides Dark Horese was doing these. But, since it was Dark Horse who released the recolored versions, they most likely already have that on hand.

Basically from what I know about the state of affairs in the industry, it would take more work to reproduce the older versions in their original color-schemes than it would to use the recolored versions they have on hand. They all have to be redone to fit with today's color process anyway. The recolored ones have already gone through this process.

Most likely we'll be seeing the recolored ones.

I have another question. What are they gonna call 'em? They can't just put Star Wars: Marvel Reprints on the cover.

Dave Land said they would probably fall under the Classic Star Wars Title.

They're part of the Classic Star Wars: A Long Time Ago series I believe

    EDIT:

I believe that these will fall into the "Classic Star Wars: A Long Time Ago...." series

I wonder what the paper grade will be like(I'm certain they'll be higher than the original issues, but will they be thinner paper than most DH releases)?

Well, if they were in black and white it would be crap quality, but since they're in color and expensive, it should be that nice glossiness we all love!

Yowza! $240?!?! I'd better start saving up!

Not all 8 at once though, right? I thought I recalled hearing there would be 2 at first. ?[face_plain]

Originally, when it was B&W, there were four, coming out two at a time in two installments Q4 2002. Now that it's color and consequently twice as expensive, they'll probably push it out to Q1 2003 as well.
