    OK, here we go ...

Book: Deathstar by Steve Perry and Michael Reeves
    Date: Saturday, Nov 29th @4pm
Location: Jada and TK-2970 (PM for directions)

The Death Starââ?¬â?¢s name says it all, with bone-chilling accuracy. It is a virtual world unto itselfââ?¬â??equipped with uncanny power for a singularly brutal purpose: to obliterate entire planets in the blink of an eye. Its annihilation of the planet Alderaan, at the merciless command of Grand Moff Tarkin, lives in infamy. And its own ultimate destruction, at the hands of Luke Skywalker, is the stuff of legend. But what is the whole story, and who are the players, behind the creation of this world-killing satellite of doom?

The near extermination of the Jedi order cleared the way for Palpatineââ?¬â??power-hungry Senator and Sith Lordââ?¬â??to seize control of the Republic, declare himself Emperor, and usher in a fearsome, totalitarian regime. But even with the dreaded Darth Vader enforcing Palpatineââ?¬â?¢s sinister will, the threat of rebellion still looms. And the Emperor knows that only abject fearââ?¬â??and the ability to punish dissent with devastating consequencesââ?¬â??can ensure his unchallenged control of the galaxy. Enter ambitious and ruthless government official Wilhuff Tarkin, architect of the Emperorââ?¬â?¢s terrifying dream come true.

From inception to completion, construction of the unprecedented Death Star is awash in the intrigues, hidden agendas, unexpected revelations, and daring gambits of those involved on every level. The brightest minds and boldest egos, the most ambitious and corrupt, the desperate and the devious, all have a stake in the Death Starââ?¬â??and its potential to control the fate of the galaxy.

Soldiers and slaves, loyalists and Rebels, spies andavengers, the innocent and the evilââ?¬â??all their paths and fates will cross and intertwine as the Death Star moves from its maiden voyage to its final showdown. And a shadowy chapter of Star Wars history is stunningly illuminated in a thrilling, unforgettable adventure.

As we have discussed in the Book Club planning thread the period before the book club meets is a "no spoiler" rule meaning if you post spoilers they must be Highlight-To-Read. Example: This is highlight to read. After the meeting spoilers can be posted without the markup codes.

    Maybe . . . :p

    [image=http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v139/SithJada/emoticons%20and%20site%20images/ATT22215724.gif]

We'll be doing a "pothopeful" dinner. More on that later.

Now, to the important party. The "Pink" Elephant (changing the name this year . . . just because) instructions are below:

    [image=http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v139/SithJada/emoticons%20and%20site%20images/Pink_Elephant_RQXIYW.gif]

This will be a "one man's junk is another man's treasure". Christmas
season is expensive enough so I don't want to put a financial burden
    on anyone.

So, how does it work? Find something in your home that you don't
    want. Guidelines:

    It can't be broken

    It can't be dirty [physically and . . . ]

    It can't be alive [i.e. a goldfish ] . . . or dead [i.e. a
goldfish ]. . . unless it is a stuffed Taun Taun and then it has to
    be destinked

It should be worth at least $5 and no more than $20 . . . unless you
really do want to get rid of a duplicate item such as oh, an Imperial
    Star Destoryer

It does NOT have to be a Star Wars related item.

    Rules of the Exchange:

To participate you must bring a gift

All the gifts must be wrapped or in an enveloped. You can wrap it in
    a gift bag

The number of gifts will be counted. Once the final number is
determined each person participating will have a chance to pick a
    number from a hat.

Gifts will be chosen in numerical order

Once a gift is opened it can be stolen by the next person who goes.
Meaning, if person #1 opens a gift person #2 thru X can steal it
    during their turn.

At the end of the exchange, Person #1 gets the final "steal". They
have their choice of whatever gift is out there.

WYGIWYGAINGW - What You Get Is What You're Given And It's No Good
Whining. Or more accurately, what you end up with is what you end up
with. It's a fun thing, you know.
