Starting at 3.30am Saturday morning with a 4 freaking hour opening ceremony, 7 kicks off its wall-to-freaking-wall coverage of these Games (which will be awesome but not as good as Sydney ;)).

The new tapes are bought, the TV is locked in. This is gonna be great :D See you in 2 weeks!

Yes, let's all watch more sport on TV...

Personally, I'd prefer to strip the skin from behind my fingernails and then wash my hands in salt and vinegar!

    Well I'm excited CCD.

But Neech, it's real sport, like running and Long Jump and Basketball!

Not alot of big guys running into each other... oh hang on...there is wrestling, but the Dream will make enough fun of that.

    oh and diving....mmmmmmmmm..men's diving....

    :)

I was initially pessimistic about it last week, but have fallen into the clutches of the games as well.

(How well was that Centaur done? Ooo! And the DNA laser light show! Although the flame lighting... Sydney was better..)

And keep your eyes on SBS. They have complimentary coverage, like C7 was for 2000. You get to see full games, or full races, full meets. Seven jumps from event to event, SBS covers the whole thing. Good stuff.

The TV guides list everything on SBS, where Seven's just says "Includes this, that, some of this".

I even watched the whole of the women's trap shooting final last night. Me..who hates guns! It was good :)

I just can't yet bring myself to set my alarm for 3am to watch swimming finals, but it's nice waking up to the results!

Monday night: Yey Brooke, Yey Thorpey, Yey Liesel, yey men's diving..WHICH I STILL HAVEN'T SEEN ANY LIVE!!!!

*wakes up at three every morning to watch the swimming* :p Obsessed? Me?

Thorpey won, Leisel lost. Tis a mixed round. Here's hoping to a better one tonight.

China still leads in the medal tally, ten gold to our six. Carn the Aussies!

I too saw the Trap Shooting live. Good on her for winning, her opposition were much higher ranked world-wide, and she held her nerve and won. =D=

I'd like to see some of the whitewater canoe stuff, as well as the Handball. SBS has the latter, I guess to whitewater stuff isn't on yet.

I only just saw some of the handball on SBS..never seen it before, and it wasn't what I thought it was. Although I was expecting some white painted squares on a school parade ground.

Here here for the whitewater stuff, always exciting. I did have to do as Neech has suggested and injure myself whilst watching dressage....now that's boring.

And when does the athletics start???? LOVE watching high jump.

Thorpey was brilliant in the 200m. I have discovered that is a good plan to tape the finals and watch them in the morning before work. I got up at 3.30am for the 4x100m mens final ( :(), it weirds you out for the rest of the day. [How fast was the Sth African team!!]

Opening ceremony = 8/10. Have to subract some points or Bjork (wtf?) and the oddball Greek alphabet.

It's a shame the men didn't win the 200m frestyle relay but they looked SO disappointed! COme on guys, you came 2nd in the whole world!!! That's brilliant.
Thorpey's probably pretty tired though, well it loked that way in his heat swim that he only qualified 8th for.

I was enjoying the cross-country equestrian but was really sad about Andrew Hoy falling off. Although it's one of the best things about the Olympics, the people you think will win don't always and other wonderful people come from no-where to get gold.

I'm looking forward to Petria's race tomorrow. Go girl!
And obviously I can't wait to see if Jana Pitman actually makes it to the start line!

OPening ceremony I thought was amazing...especially the details in the costuming in the parade, and the part where they projected images of the development of civilisation onto the broken marble mask was the most impressive visual thing I've seen for a long time.

Ya gotta love the Olympics! I wish the whole world just spent more time getting ready for and having Olympics, and the overrriding ideals of peace and fairplay extended beyond the Olympic boundaries. Vomit. But it's nice to see the world doing something together for a change.

    Ramble over.

Thorpey swam the second fastest leg in history.
Hacket swam 2 seconds below his PB (an eternity in swimming).

Luigi, she meant his 100m qualification, not his leg in the relay. I think.

I'm watching more SBS, too. Good to see entire road races, volleyball matches and the like. I'm almost over the swimming, but looking forward to the athletics. Good to see the shot put was held in Olympia! Nice touch!

The whitewater stuff was good! Soooo close, the Aussie got 4th.

Thorpey's Olympics is over :( Never mind, he rules! =D=

Tony Squires hosting was a good choice. Good to see 7 do something right for a change.

I am sooo over the swimming. It's about this time I start looking for the odder sports.

You know, Javelin (aww, missed the official! :p ), Greco-Roman wrestling, 50km Walking...

Hey! Where'd the Triathlon go! It wasn't just a one-off in Sydney, was it??!! [face_worried]

I'm embarrased to say that I've only watched the Athens Dream twice.. Anyone stayed with them the whole way? Has it been as good as The Dream/Snow Dream?

The Dream's been ok, nothing to write home about.

How jawdroppingly awesome were Grant Hackett's and especially Petria Thomas's swims this morning!! I don't think I've seen more thrilling TV in a long time. Petria Thomas is a dead set legend (mate), 28 years old and basically a cyborg she's had so much surgery.

Huge congratulations to our most successful team since Melbourne! :D =D=
