I mentioned this in our January meeting. We have been invited again to my kids school for a Star Wars themed movie night. Last school year, they showed A New Hope and us mingle with the crowd. As it was in the early evening, we didn't have much time to do anything but mingle and take photos, but none the less - we were really well accepted and everyone had alot of fun. We also saw quite a crowd from the church and school join us at the Bison's game as a result.

This year, they will be showing The Empire Strikes Back and have proposed to do this on a Saturday. This will give us time to mingle, take photos, do some demonstrations and activities prior to the movie. Details to be discussed in the upcoming planning meeting and I hope to have a solid timeline soon.

The school is advertising this already. I'm going to say meet at 4 and start the event at 5. Movie is slated to start at 7, so that gives us 2 hours to mingle, run a few saber demo's, maybe something with the kids involved, and then the movie. We can discuss some ideas on Saturday at the meeting.

In speaking with my contact, she has friends who are Star Wars fans that she is mentioning this event to. One of them has a Jedi outfit and another has armor (possibly Rubies Stormtrooper). I don't believe either of them are in any formal groups, so this is a possibility for a couple new members. She is extending the invite to them, so just be aware that there may be a couple costumed adults there that aren't associated to us.

Kids again are encouraged to dress up as well.
