    SHOWTIME, SEASON FINALE

    Homeland

"Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean al-Qaeda's not trying to kill you. Or so we've learned from this gripping CIA drama. The crazier agent Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes) gets in her off-the-meds mania, the more her conspiracy theories about possibly ''turned'' American POW/congressional candidate Nicholas Brody (Damian Lewis) seem to make sense. Tonight's season finale finds Carrie near-catatonic and confined to bed, leaving her colleague Saul (Mandy Patinkin) to investigate, while Brody makes final preparations for the vice president's policy summit, and a long-awaited plot against America unfolds. No one will be able to predict the outcome of the attack ? not Saul, not Carrie, and probably not you either, which is what makes Homeland one of the most suspenseful shows on TV. If you don't watch, then the terrorists have already won. ?Melissa Maerz"

I caught the first season over a weekend of free Showtime, and wow is it great. Claire Danes won the award recently (and deservedly), but there's not a weak member in that cast. Damien Lewis had possibly the hardest job any actor had this year, and pulled it off. The series took a ton of risks changing up the status quo so much in its first year, and it turned out superbly.
