    I have to wonder what the protesters mean by "traditional marriage." There was a time when interracial marriage was illegal. There was a time when a rape victim was forced to marry her rapist. There was also a time when girls were literally sold to their prospective husbands for a few pieces of silver and a goat.
    Seems like a pretty slippery slope if you want to backtrack on marriage's progress through the centuries.

    I haven't paid attention to the individual arguments before the SCOTUS, but that's one of the arguments I often here in gay marriage debates. I'm sure someone has brought up the concept of "traditional marriage" at some point this week. Those arguers simply fail to see the problem with that line of thinking.

    One of the biggest arguments against same-sex marriage is the "erasure of gender from society."

    That statement cannot be interpreted any other way than the erasure of gender ROLES from society and/or marriage.
