The Easter Bunny represents the commercialization of religion. No longer is it about the death and subsequent rise of Christ - No, Easter is now about good food and chocolate eggs. No longer is it Easter!

This is the same about Christmas - a holiday, representing what we believe is the birth of Christ. But, no, that's lost. We give gifts, but no longer know why. The name is Christian, blatantly so! Christmas - Christ Mass. A celebration of religious significance, not of buying stff for others.

Another thing that bothers me - why do atheists celebrate Christmas? Easter? If they don't believe, and don't go to church, why celebrate? Oh yes, that's why - chocolate! As good as it is, that is not what this holiday is about - holidays are holy days, not just a day off.

It's not the fact that this is happening that bothers me - it is the fact that no one cares, and no one knows. I'm not a religious nut - I believe because it comforts me to know that there is something greater out there. But when people, claiming to celebrate "Easter", don't respect any history, and merely make egotistical pigs of themselves, then I get angry.

Of course, if yo don't celebrate Easter, do not claim or pretend to, and just like the chocolate, then I'm cool with that.

But watch out if you go around saying "Easter's here! Yay!" and then wolf down chocolate all day without any thought to what the day is, boy, watch yourself.

You seem to be unaware of the pagan origins of Christmas. The Christians decided to put their celebration on the same day as the pagan festival to make it easier to convert. If Christmas had its roots in the Saturnalia, why can't X-mas have its roots in Christmas? And, with this fact in the light, what gives people like you the moral high ground to bash the atheists who celebrate Christmas. And what is so bad about commercialization? Does even the commercial celebration of Christmas have good values like generosity at its core? Easter also has pagan origins in its traditions and so my point with Christmas is relevant here.

As to the Easter debate ... I'm not a big fan of the Easter Bunny, and jokingly I claim that I'm going to tell my kids the "Ghost of Jesus Past" brought them chocolate on Easter, but it really doesn't bother me. My point of view is that if something as simple as a giant bunny causes harm to your core religion values, you probably could work on refining your core religion values.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I have some shotguns to avoid

I'm not saying that I'm better or nicer or wiser or smarter. I'm saying that I'm angry that people celebrate "Easter", while not actually celebrating it.

X = Greek letter chi = Christos = Christ. In the 16th century using "Xianity" in place of "Christianity" was common, though it seems to have died out as of the 21st.
