Do we have a thread to announce either RL versions of Star Wars' tech, or companies whose names match GFFA corporations?

Blastech now exists for real. One of the companies developing bomb resistant luggage envelopes for airliners.

In sad news, Stephanie Kwolek, the inventor of kevlar, has died, aged 90 - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-27951043 - third picture down appears to show a kevlar net being deployed against an assailant wielding a lightsabre.

They have used drone technology to create a few fun things. They now have prototype vehicles that are very similar to speeder bikes and a hovering drone that is very reminiscent of an Imperial probe droid.

How long do you think it will take Disney to go after that company and force a name change?

They probably won't, it's hard to build a case on "This real-world luggage company violates our contextually applicable copyright claim to a fictional scifi laser company." It's like how the Candy Crush Saga folks could go after "Saga" or whatever gross abuse they had only in the context of video games.

It's too early to be awake, but alas, I am awake nonetheless. [face_coffee]

Man I hate it when that happens. Particularly if it's before my coffee maker automatically powers on.

I should try the auto setting, the smell alone would make mornings more pleasant.

Never tastes as good if left out overnight to auto brew. Fresh ground and brewed in the morning is far superior. No what you need is a flatmate or partner that gets up before you every morning and makes the coffee ;)

I'll take slightly bad coffee over having to put up with a roommate ever again, frankly.

I knew I found the right girl when she brought coffee to my bed in the morning . . . it just made click and if I had a ring anywhere nearby I would have closed the deal! ;)

In my defense it was my favourite sort of coffee.

Well. Friday evening, my fourteen year old dog passed away in his sleep. I'd had him since I was 11, and though his health wasn't what it was, it suddenly and quickly changed. Tough couple of days, but easier to deal with now with a bit of time and distance. RIP, buddy.

Thanks guys. Hell of a weekend but life goes on. Stumbling awkwardly back into writing, as it were.

I use a Keurig because then I don't have to buy different coffee to brew up at the office. Oh, and I guess technically I also use "whatever that coffee place in the engineering center has."

I drink dark roast coffee made in a basic coffee machine. My coffee filters are recyclable. I am back on caffeine after nearly a month off.

I had a friend who used a french press and it always seemed so fancy to me.

I have normal percolator, too, but the funky thing is it doesn't work unless you make, like, cups.

    CUPS?!?!? Mine only makes one!

But it lasts a little while ;) Although my coffee machine, basic drip coffee with filter, claims to make more it never measures up to an actual unit of measure that it claims.
