So we've updated the rules regarding OOC threads - check it out.

 

I saw...and I'm sorry if any of mine were a problem.

 

We're not naming names, we're trying to stave off a general trend. Nothing applies retroactively.

 

Hence our carpet bombing of all the threads a week or so back.

 

I figured as much. I just tend to apologize for things even when it arguably isn't needed.

 

I remember that carpet bombing vividly. In fact, I'm standing in one of the craters. Not a fun place to be in.

 

It's not fun to have to go through every thread with warnings, either.

Or is it?

 

I don't know what worries me more....the fact that Hooper's only bumped up a page while I was gone for a WEEK or that Penguinator seems to enjoy using his modly powers for hijinks and hilarity.....

Umm... Marvel Comics: The Untold Story is the bee's knees and everyone should read it?

I've been doing nothing but attend logic talks this weekend, my selection of discussion points is kind of thin.

 

Man there so many RPGs up now I'm really stoked and overwhelmed by the diversity of ideas and plots it really is starting to get interesting.

Okay, really random nerd question time. Why is Kevin Conroy considered the best voice of Batman? Not that I am agreeing or disagreeing, I just want to hear opinions.

 

He just is, really. He drops his voice into a lower register for Batman, but it isn't a hoarse roar or a guttural growl; it's still a voice, and it sounds natural and real, but also intimidating and authoritative. When Conroy does the Bruce Wayne voice, it's much different - listen to an interview with the guy, and you'll realize that Conroy's natural voice is somewhere between those - it's a bit higher, but also very relaxed, casual, charismatic.

I'm probably a bit biased because I grew up with Conroy's voice as Batman, but he just sells the character so well. Fun fact: he went to Julliard and was in the same class as Robin Williams and Kelsey Grammar. He's a well-trained actor that gets the nuances of character, and he brings that to Batman. Even in the lamest DC Animated movies, he brings his A-game.

 

I can't really top that, but this fan edit/filmy thing got a reading on the awesome metre:

 

"They'll kill him."
"How? ... he'll be a god to them."

"...can't I just go on pretending to be your son?"
"You are my son!"

These were the parts that got me in the trailer. Moreso than the effects. If that level of acting and ripping at your heart persists throughout the movie, I'll admit it's better than the Donner version. Very encouraged. Costner normally can't act, but since he's channelling Field of Dreams there, all is forgiven. And Russell Crowe just has the perfect spin on the words.

 

Pfft, everyone knows Kevin Costner's best performance was in that one movie where he was doing stuff but, like, nobody cared because the score was by James Newton Howard and Hans Zimmer and it was awesome.

It was about how the entire WORLD was covered in WATER, and the main characters had to traverse this WATERy WORLD to try and find the one spot of actual land, because they were sick of living in that WATER WORLD all the time. I think it was called "Seven Voyages of Sinbad the Sailor."
