I really feel like there should have been an important sporting event tonight.....I guess the finals have spoiled me with having games Every. Other. Night.

 

Look at it this way: only 17 hours until Stanley Cup final game 2.

I did not. The reviews that started to come in were bad enough that I began to lean towards "Maybe this weekend." Then Mark Waid (Who I agree with on basically all things Superman) posted his heartbreaking review and I consigned it to either late-in run matinee or Red Box status.

In short:


I very rarely go to the theater anyway, so I'm content to wait for Pacific Rim.

Edit: I would note that it's entirely possible I'll end up enjoying it when I do see it, but with opinions as split as I'm seeing them, and the fact that my local theater doesn't offer student discounts on opening weekends, means it sort of comes down to Man of Steel vs. rereading Superman: Birthright and drinking some tasty beer. And, uh, yeah. It's damn good beer.

 

Watch it. The early things I heard worried me too, and while the movie REALLY doesn't lighten up until the end, I was buying it.

It's not The Dark Knight-level but it still hits the important beats very well. Needs Jimmy Olsen, really, and I'd be completely fine with it.

 

Well that game was just... painful. GEE YOU THINK MAYBE BOSTON WILL WIN WHEN THEY HAVE THRICE AS MANY OPPORTUNITIES AS WE DO?! Atrocious.

 

It was rough to watch. Such a strong start for such a lackluster finish. That being said, both Rask and Crawford were playing amazing hockey. Some of the shots they blocked......I honestly don't see how they did it.

Anyway, in other interesting news, Zeboyd games released Penny Arcade's Rain Slick 4 on XBLA last week. And its everything I had hoped for. Ridiculous monsters, great writing, and Jim. There's also a demonic ice cream cone.

 

I've got to play the first three before I can get to that sweet, sweet Jim.



Also I just lost an hour of gameplay in Raidou Kuzunoha vs. the Soulless Army because I got cocky and didn't save while I was grinding, then got slapped around by status effects. I have to grind because it's the last dungeon and I'm underleveled. And I can't bring myself to play something else for a while precisely because it's the last dungeon.

Donkey Kong Country Returns - thinking of snagging Metroid on the virtual console, too.

 

Granted, some of those are Wii U games, but still......so much want!

 

Yeah, lots of good stuff coming out for 3DS. My wallet's doomed once I get one.

Edit: It's a Pyrrhic victory, though - I saved a bunch of money via used games and my old DS Lite, but this is the first handheld I've ever owned that doesn't fit in my old, old, old official Game Boy carrying case.

Well, that game was fairly ridiculous. At this point, put Emery in the goal and put Crawford out on offense because he seems to be the only one playing for the Blackhawks. That being said, the only entertainment came from the kerfuffles at the very end. Bickell vs Chara and Sharp vs Marchand should make for some interesting shenanigans in the upcoming games.

 

Assuming we don't blow those, too.
