Way to go, Ramza! We desperately needed someone to keep the place from falling to bits I'm sure the process of becoming Admin was a long, rigourous process where all your background and qualifications were carefully scrutinised, so well done for achieving the 9000 rank! :D

Seriously, congratulations! From memory this might be the first time an Admin has also been a RPF mod at the same time...

I only hope that my tenure can make up for the unspeakable tragedy of nearly five years ago.

    So I just finished Hyperion.

No, there just are no words. Just go read it, if you have even a passing interest in science fiction. This book will blow your mind, if not your reproductive organs.

Yeah, I clicked edit to see if I could figure out what was up, and the post is completely blank. Like... completely blank. No markup tags. Nothing. It's almost beautiful in its impossible serenity.

The phrasing can't help but make me picture someone sitting in their lounger of choice, sipping a delicious beverage, reading Hyperion. Suddenly and inexplicably, their crotch explodes.

That, indeed, is a most apt metaphor for my personal experience of reading and finishing Hyperion. I am reminded of Prince's immortal lyrics from "Electric Chair" off the Batdance album: "You whispered something; it took my mind out like a G Flat Major with an E in the bass." I came. To appreciate it. Very much.

Ah, excuse me, but Batdance was the lead single off the 1989 Batman soundtrack, thank you very much. :p

    Rookie Batmanologists, I swear... :p

Pfft, clearly a herd of gallimimus flocking from the popular film Jurassic Park intercut with Mr. Burt Ward and Mr. Adam West running. Let's have a real challenge!

RIDDLE ME THIS! What did the chick say to the other chick when the hen laid an orange, instead of an egg?

.....and the post was so loooong too :(:_|.

I poured over that post whilst imbibing Mr. Adams' Boston Ale and watching the Denver Broncos annihilate the Baltimore Ravens....le sigh.

Off to try to recapture the magic....

EDIT: Magic recaptured.....or close enough at least

"Yes, Boy Wonder, that would appear to be the obvious meaning, but consider who we're dealing with: The Riddler!"
"Holy secondary interpretations, Batman! Nothing that criminal confounder ever says can be taken literally!"
"Exactly! Now, consider the word 'marmalade' itself - it first appeared in the English language in 1480, a direct descendent of the Portuguese word 'marmelo.'"
"And Portugal is one of Europe's leading Uranium producers!"
"Right! I think you're following my train of thought, old chum - now, consider the riddle itself, wherein a hen lays an orange..."
"Orange... hen... Oranjen! Holy fallout, the Oranjen Nuclear Power Plant, just on the outskirts of Gotham County!"
"Yes, the Riddler must be planning to raid the stores there, to sell to the highest bidder, no doubt jeopardizing American security in the process! Quickly Robin, to the Batmobile!"
