Hello, all. I've finally decided to post this free-verse poem, which I have been hesitant to post. I wrote it to get rid of Darth Writers' Block, so it may be just completely senseless. If it is, I understand.

    Anyway, enjoy!!

    <~>~<~>~<~>

    Hope Still Lingers

    Silence calls
    Darkness gathers
    Light flees
    Sound fades
    Within this galaxy
    So lost
    So helpless

    Planets given to greed
    Persons consumed by fear
    Lives twisted by hate
    Peace lost to war
    This galaxy spins
    On all opposite of good

    Night whispers softly
    Speaking with the wind
    Whose calls and cries
    Scatter the silent atmosphere
    On this desert planet

    Mingling their voices together
    The shadows and wind
    Echo the pleads
    Of those losing

    These cries
    Though unheard by many
    Reach the senses of one
    A man
    Who
    Without fear of the cries
    Stands within the middle
    Of this desert-planet floor

His face once young and boyish
    Now slightly reflects
    His worries
    Fears
    And failures

    The wind and heat
    Are unmerciful
    To his handsome features
    However they
    Whip strongly across his face
    As harsh, cold words
And begin to leave the marks
    Of his hidden age

    The concern throughout his years
Fails to age his soft, ginger hair
    However this planet?s cruel hand
    Manages to touch
    That which time had not
Thus causing flicks of white hair
To be hidden within the ginger

    The strength within his bones
    Though it withstood
Many years of training and missions
Was now beginning to stiffen and fade
    Causing pain with certain
And otherwise normal for this man
    Movements
    This began to reflect
    By his pace and speed

    His skin
    Once fair and handsome
    Was now beaten daily
    By the sun and wind
Causing it to stiffen, crack, and burn

    The clothes he wore
Began to grow old and worn
    However the man
Refuses to release his enduring cloak
    For by it
He finds some comfort and shelter
Which the Sun refuses to give

    Though time
    Both of the haunting past
    And of the weary present
    Forced change
    On his appearance and clothes
    Two things remains the same

    The silver weapon
    Although rarely lit
    And his ever-changing ocean eyes

With the protection of the weapon
    The man
    Known as a Jedi Knight
    Stands in the center
    Of the sand-burnt planet
    Using his always soft eyes
To glance upward at the sky
    Which now reveals
    A sky of midnight jewels
    Protected by dark velvet

    With his powerful arms folded
    Within his cloak
    Over his chest
    Strong shoulders pulled back
    Booted feet rooted
    Within the burnt ground
    Face masked
    By an expression
    Of thoughtfulness
    curiosity
    And sadness
And eyes so soft and kind
    View the heavens
    With hidden uncertainty

    His thoughts
    The meanwhile
    Reaches into the future
    Searching it for an answer
    Of whether or not
    The choices he made
    Had cast light
Into the future of this darkness

    Glancing away from the heavens
His eyes gaze the night horizon
    As the wind once more
    Cried out to the canyons
    For mercy

    Slowly turning his back
On the pleads of the wind
    The Jedi Knight walks away
    Away from the wind
    And its blood-chilling howls

Perhaps in the years to come
    Someone will be there
    To calm the cries
    And to lead the fearful
    Out of the consuming dark
    Into a blinding light

    That one -
    The Knight knew
As the wind from the planet
    Snakes around his body
    Causing his cloak
To whip wildly in the air
    That one
    Was one who
    Without knowledge of his destiny
    Must make his own choice
    For both his own future
And the future he will never know

    The winds cries once more
    Pleading for the stars
    However the Knight
    Steps into his hut
    Blocking out the howls
    The darkness
    The night
    the helplessness
And settles on his weary knees
    For calmness
    Serenity
    And Patience

    Though Light fades
    Darkness grows
    Life dies
    Cries silence
    Hope still lingers

    Jedi Knight-
    Obi-Wan Kenobi

    Finished-

Just from reading through that stanza, I knew it was about Obi-Wan and his living in the desert of Tatoonie. Good poem.

Completely easy to follow and picture your descriptions.

We all get older, our Jedi retains his strengths in his changing body. Even though your body changes, the mind usually doesn?t.

I liked how he kneeled at the end, never giving up his old ways and still has hopes for the future.

Altaira - Thank you, I?m glad you were able to follow and picture everything.

Even though your body changes, the mind usually doesn?t. - I agree, yet with age comes wisdom, and that doesn?t mean your body won?t change. :)

    Thanks again!
