I'm totally ready to win another Rolex. My first one didn't come in the mail, though.

NBC is going to air the Illinois Derby and the Santa Anita Derby (two prep races for the Kentucky Derby) starting in a few minutes!

Convincing win by I Want Revenge (whose jockey is Joe Talamo from the Jockeys tv show) in the Wood Memorial. Bad start, got roughed up and still won going away. Amazing!

The Kentucky Derby should be soon, shouldn't it?

Some Kentucky Derby prep races are occurring today. The Illinois Derby and the Wood Memorial. Uncle Mo is the current Derby favorite and he is running in the Wood Memorial today.

Oooh, I just poked my head in to see if there was any pre-Derby talk going on! :D One post qualifies. :p

I've been trying to follow the big potentials this year and Uncle Mo is all anyone seems to be talking about so far. He's a hard one to criticize. I had liked the work Premier Pegasus was putting in, but his surgery takes him out of the contending.

I will ask my annual question: What's the date of the Derby?

Bri - do you think Uncle Mo is still likely to go in as favorite after his third place performance in the Wood Memorial? Like you said they pretty much haven't been talking about anyone else but I can't see how anyone could be confident after that.

I doubt it. The two that I've been hearing the most about were Uncle Mo and Premier Pegasus. I did some morning reading today on some of the other contenders (I don't know much about them), and Mo's already lost his "official" favorite status to Dialed In. He's not unworthy; he's had a very good season so far. I think everyone's gotten shafted to second in convo because Uncle Mo is alllll anyone's talking about. That's still technically true. It's just that now they're talking about what a disappointment the Wood Memorial was and what it means for the Derby. :p

I wouldn't be surprised if he gains some of his footing back come Derby day, but I don't see it happening.
