Okay, folks...let's add up who's doing what costume for the parade. Please answer the poll above and then post below what you are planning to wear. Keep in mind the cost associated and the sewing skills you'll need. Our group has limited sew-ers and some of them are currently drugged. So we'll need to pitch in to buy fabric, cut patterns, etc.

I'm not volunteering anyone for specific duties. It's just good to know what people are hoping for and we'll see how that matches up with what we can accomplish together.

T-shirt and jeans for me! If I'm babyless, I'll be cat herder along the parade route. If I have a baby, I'll cheer from the sidewalk.

Don't mean to be a stinker but Catz was going to post the poll of which kind of Rebel Trooper people wanted to do, there are 3 kinds or a mix & match, "smuggler" additional & I know F_D is doig the Leia version already.

I will not be & am not offering to make a Tauntaun costume or Snow Troopers, we don't have the capabilites to do those yets.

I know the parade will be here... tomorrow, seems like. I'd love to do the snowspeeder pilot because I want to make an X-wing pilot, but until I know for sure I'll be here for the parade, I'm kind of waffling. Even though I want an X-wing pilot for things other than the parade.

Here are the pics from the Rebel Legion and the costume standards for those. Now, I know that NO ONE is required to do these to RL standards, I am just including them for reference only.

What this does do is show that the trench is by far the most difficult and expensive, and the tech is the easiest and least expensive.
Also, here are a couple of pics of the "Women of Hoth":

(I hope the links work. Work blocks photobucket, but hopefully the pics work for you.

As far as what costume I do... I'll have to see. I really want to do the trench trooper, but lack the sewing skills so far, and I know Kim is limited on what she can do and I don't want to push it. I do have one other seamstress I can go to for help. She and her husband (and kids) went to the open cockpit day and were so inspired by all of us there, that they are doing Hoth costume(s?) now. She is a semi-pro seamstress, so she might be able to pull it off.

FWIW, I think the Hangar techs would look awesome next to the X-Wing. (And there is much effort going on now to find "the" fabric for the snowspeeder jacket. I'll let you know when one is found.)

    Hope this helps...

    Thanks for the info Bill

S_C - I have a mockup done for the vest of the Hangar crew/techs. I need to try it with some quilted fabric to see if my idea of how to construct it works. Just to let you know.

I will be starting a new poll, I've talked to FF, the options here are not what is on the table. I can't find pictures of a Hoth Comm costume but I think it's more like what Leia wears?

S - I found quilted fabric, I was thinking that would save some time for the pants & shoulders of the vest detail pieces, looks like there are larger quilted parts for the entire vest/jacket. Need to print pictures so I have good reference, nothing seems to be sticking in my head these days.

I did buy some mock up fabric & .99 patterns to see if any of them can be modified (which I know they can) to make this costume instead of doing everything from scratch. There are still a lot of things I can't do & my foot didn't like me sewing for more then 45 mins. yesterday, so .......

I hope we can still all get what we want/need to pull this off.

I messed up on my poll entry. I thought I clicked snowtrooper, but ended up clicking rebel comm. I should be there in my dirty, snowy, imperial best.

I voted for other. Kimmy said I could dress in My Jedi Robes if I wanted. I realize that will make me stick out from everybody else but since when do I mind being The Oddball? :D

I really don't know the first thing about sewing and I don't have the time to learn or buy a sewing machine. If the general consensus is that me being out of character for the scene, is a problem. I will respectfully decline and just help with the float. :)

That is not the case in any way Cory, I will start a new poll to clear up some confusion (or maybe not) This was just to be for the Hoth Trooper costumes, who wanted which costume, what could they manage on their own, who needs what kind of help & how many people are interested at all.

I was going to sew most all the costumes and have a few sweat shops for people to help & get fittings, etc. Now that I'm a gimp, I can't do as much as I thought I would be able to do and want to see how much interest there is for the costumes to see what we can arrange for everyone.

But it seems like there isn't that much interest or because people are not going to the meetings or don't read every post they don't know what the plan is.

My plan was to get as many people into a new costume as possible, like we did w/ the Tuskens, I didn't want this to be a last minute plan. I've been hinting around for a head count & ideas of what people wanted to do for a while now but no feedback, hence a poll. I only know of 3 or 4 people who are interested, if this is the case, then that is doable but if in a month or the next meeting 5 other people say "I want one too" then.......

So I was trying to avoid this by putting up a poll that would get people thinking of what costume if any they wanted. Snow Trooper & tauntaun or not in the offer, sorry.

But if it looks like there are no more interest in the group costume then 3 or 4 people then I will let this die here & take it to PM's, phone calls or emails.

    thanks.

I am more than willing to help (and learn!!!), and if we do sweatshops, I would be there. Seeing as it would probably be easier, I'd like the hangar trooper --especially if that was a group concensus.

If I can do this (and maybe now that I have a job I can) the Hangar Tech looks easiest, though I do find the comm gal interesting....

    EDIT: typo

So, the Comm Tech is basically a Hangar Tech with out gloves and trading the dopey hat for a headset. Is that what I'm seeing?

Prithee, Zoo, where wouldst I findeth yon headset?
