How ancient is Darth Sidious?

I was looking at the picture of his lightsaber hilt. And it looks like it has to be an ancient design or something. It looks nothing like the newer lightsabers. And maybe that older design meant for one-handed use? Just thoughts. Discuss.

 

Too ancient to talk about

 

The hilt is definitely too small for 2-handed use. If you look at that pic of palpatine and anakin standing together, you can see that palpatine's hilt will only fit in one hand.

As far as how old he is, I would suspect (and this is just my own theory) that he is at least Yoda's age. Why? Well, we know from spoilers that he knows how to "cheat death" or extend life from his master Darth Plagueis. We also know that he pretty much owns Yoda. You would need a lot of experience to do that.

 

It could be that Palpatine based his design upon an ancient lightsaber design....or he found an ancient weapon and restored it....

Either way....I doubt Palpatine is as old as Yoda is...although I could be wrong.

 

The only thing we know is that Sidious is NOT 1000 years old, from the OS. But who says he can't be 999, or 666!

 

he's younger then Yoda.

 

I'd say he's older than he looks, but not hundreds of years old.

Just to throw a number out there, I'd say 70 something.

the last time this was brought up i think someone had shown that he was 60 in rots, and like 80 in anh.

Palpatine was tought polatics from a young age....this leads me to believe that he isnt that old at all. (or a big plot mistake)
