Atlantic How badly was Halifax hit?

I have a friend there I care very deeply about and am kinda worried about her. I'm sure she's fine, but I'm still worried. (She'd kill me if she saw this, too.)

Is the power back on everywhere?

Are people near the coast being let back in their apartments?

Was there a lot of damage near the coast?

Are the stores, like Wal-Mart and stuff, back open?

 

I don't live in halifax (though i do live in N.S.), but i'm pretty sure that there's still no power, and there was a lot of damage near the coast. I don't know much more than that, though.


EDIT: according to ATV, there's still 100,000 people without power, and they may be without it until the weekend.

 

I think Gandolf is the only one of us in Halifax.

I hope he's okay.

 

I live about 2 hours from Halifax, and from what I've heard things are still bad there. My sister goes to Dalhousie, the same University as Gandolf, and they believe it'll be closed for the rest of the week. Major damage to the trees in the park that's downtown, and an ambulance driver, and a man from Enfield have died. That's all I know, I'm sure Gandolf is fine.

 

Well that's a relief. I would hate for anything to happen to him.

Nope, I don't know how bad Halifax was hit. I was hoping to catch it on the news at lunch. But of course everyone was watching CNN!

Circumstances had me out of Halifax like 4 hours before all hell broke loose. I was talking to someone from Dartmouth, the fatalities # 5. My roommate's family lost their car and trailer, and a lot of houses of people I know took serious damage. Dal's out for the week, and power probably will be as well. Funny, there was barely a whisper here, and home in Cape Breton they only had a bit of trouble.

I am also a Cape Bretoner.
We didn't get none of the storm in my area either.

 

I am relieved to hear that you are all ok.

I have heard that alot of people have been without since the storm and it might be days
before everything is back to normal.

Finally caught it on the news. I knew it was bad, but I didn't think it was THAT bad. My cousin in Enfield, has a two week break because her school is without power.

 

i have a cousin without school in Enfield, as well.

 

I heard that some people still didn't have power yesterday.
