How bright do you think a lightsaber is?

I know this sounds like a stupid question, but I have been wondering about this. In any film or video or picture, you obviously do not get the full effect of the brightness of a light source. We just have to make an estimated guess as to how bright things are based on our experiences with those objects. So here lies the problem: we've never seen a light saber in the real world.

So how bright do you think they are? So bright that you could not stare directly at them for more than a few seconds? Or closer to neon light brightness? Or a glow stick even?
