 Now it's just a solid blade[face_clown]! Looks more like an fx saber without the equal signs[face_laugh] .

If you've seen what I've seen, FXs can be modded to look soo better. I'm talking blinding light coring effect which'll blow you away. To top it off, it's virtually unbreakable as proved in a dual where a regular FX was broke in two. Brightness and duelability are possible. The future is here, my friends.;)

Random Menace, the doorbell makes a great activator switch.

D/M Thanx This took me roughly 2 hours in lowes to scrounge up the parts and 2 hours or so to put together. For saber #2 I picked up some brass tubing to combine with some killer brass lamp parts that I scavenged out of some one's trash

Navarre....isn't it great when you're getting all that stuff and one of the workers catches you holding strange parts up to others and they say "That's not made to fit on there like that" :D

The guy that was helping me look for stuff for mine was really confused as to why I was buying a chrome endcap to go onto the end of a chrome sink tube. He was like..."That's not made for that"

    I just said, "I know."

I know! They asked me about what I was doing one time and...let's just say I had a fun time explaining it to them. She (it was an older lady) totally had no clue what I was talking about.:)

I have exactly the same luck in the stores. The clerks are like, "Whut're ya tryin' ta build?" (hillbilly accent), and when I tell them, they just have this vacant expression...

*waves his hand at the store clerk*
"You want to quit this job and go educate yourself in the ways of the Force."

    Wouldn't it be nice...

I always refer to it as "that look", that vacuous, slack jawed expression that you get whenever you try to deal with the mundane folk of this world. I often find when I am talking to these guys that I know more about their department than they do.

I like to tell them that I'm working on an "art project" or I'll just say that I'm making props for an amature film. They usually just smile, nod and walk away. ;)

I really like that shower-head emitter, btw!

This 1st time I made my lightsaber I had no problems. (Except my parents) None of the people at the store gave me weird looks (that I noticed:eek: ) and none of them asked me what I was doing or anything. Oh and nice job with the saber it's awe inspiring =D= =P~ .

1 cheap flashlight from DEALS $1.00
    Get this stuff from Lowes
    1 8? x 1-1/2? sink tailpiece $6.87
    1 disposer gasket $1.94
    1 Deluxe shower head $6.18
    3 knurled nuts $1.75
    1 2-pak small metal sink handles $9.75
    1 Silver doorbell $4.98
    1 12? piece of 1/4" all-thread $0.78
    5 1-1/2? fender washers @ .18 each $0.90
6 rubber hose washers (layin? in a drawer)
    6 1/4"nuts $0.24
Total with 1 knob left over for the next $34.39
The cheapo flashlights have interesting looking rubber grips which peel off easliy. BTW the onlt machining I had to do on this was to Dremel the doorbell to fit the pipe. I made a leather gasket to go around the base of the doorbell as well for an extra nice fit. Before you throw ANYTHING AT ALL away take a look at it for parts to scavenge for costumes & props.

Lol that's soo true. The guy that did the original Darth Vader did a good job. Now back to topic. My lightsaber is almost done. All I need now is an emitter.

OMG, I just designed three **wonderful** lightsaber hilt designs on paint (I'm an expert with that program). All three are for the same dude, the first one blue, second green, and the third a double-bladed purple that comes apart!!! If only I could figure out how to post pics of them on here, they're not on any other site so I can't give a URL. But I can give a description.

    1. This first blue one looks a lot like Anakin's Ep. III saber, but the on/off switch is closer to the emitter, and it has a different 'butt', more like a knob. It's also not as streamlined looking. It has those famous grips.

    2. This second green one is perhaps what you'd get if you combined Darth Vader with Mace Windu. Basically it's Vader's hilt with some gold rings. Also it has an Ep. I Obi-wan styled 'butt'.

    3. My favorite, the twin bladed purple. It looks like Anakin's as well, except the little piece that pokes out where the blade is is longer. Those famous grips are more towards the center, oh, and in the middle is this little coupler thing that can be separated and make two sabers!
