How can we make our game better/more fun?

We need to stop moaning about it, and try to come up with some solutions to make this a more fun/entertaining place to be/read.

At the moment I find myself looking over at the JCC a lot because it is often very quiet on here when I'm around. But I think that DelTom has a very good point when he says that we need to maybe look inwards to the house(s) a lot more, and try to get to know each other better.

Here are some ideas that we could maybe try to instigate:

1. Thought for the day thread
Bri, I know that you started this before, but maybe we could make this something that we all participate in. For example, each day, one person posts a thought for discussion that lasts for 24hrs. We all do our level best to take part in this discussion at some point throughout the day. The person who posts the thought for the day, also at the same time nominates the next person, and so on, and so on, until we have gone through everyone, one by one.

2. Daily Game
It doesn't have to be a different game everyday, but let's at least try and get a bunch (if not all) of us participating in a game each day.

3. Daily task/challenge
Set by one or two people, for the rest to take part in, alternating the people who set the task each day.

4. Social threads
Some threads for chatting in - so we don't bugger off to the chat rooms(!!), where anything and everything is open for discussion, from the nonsensical to the life-threateningly important!

5. Let people know when we're gonna be around
I have started a few threeads trying to get people to commit to this, because I know that my hours don't fit with everyone elses, but it seems quite hard to get even loose timeframes out of people. If we at least have a better idead of when each other is around, we'll have a better chance of getting to know each other better.

1. Quite honestly, all the whining about how boring we are is getting on my last nerve. About every other post I read in the JCC about BB contains a complaint. Rhonderoo suggested more interaction between us and them and I think that's a great idea. There is too little built-in activity for this to be round-the-clock entertainment.

2. I'm not an entertainer. If I happen to be entertaining, it's usually by accident. First and foremost, I'm Brian. I won't put on a comic hat every day that I'm here just to amuse someone for 20 seconds. If that's the purpose of this game, then it's best to boot me now. I enjoy joking around as much as the next guy, but human beings aren't funny all the time any more than they are serious all the time. I don?t have a shtick. Even if I did, it?d probably get boring after a bit. I mean, how much longer can we lol @ kitty?s period? Really.

3. There is nothing fun about being criticized for being yourself and having a life. I?m sure I?m not the only one that doesn?t sit by the computer every spare second of his life to post in the BBB forum. Jay has a job but no computer at home, Femi is worried about college and working out, Chris has a family, Chris (Everton) clearly has a life, Darth_Boy plays WoW and other things, Evan is 18 yrs old and shares very few interests with the rest of the guys in the house, and SWA?well?he?s SWA.

Me? I just got ?promoted? to a job I?m not prepared for because the other guy screwed over our department so hard that it?ll take me a year to fix everything and I?ve only got 4 months to do it before I get shipped back to sea. My son would prefer I hang out with him than play online (frankly, so would I). And I?m the PM for a capstone project in my MBA class that is the culmination of 2 yrs of work. So please forgive me if I?m not overly entertaining to you all.

Solution

Do what Jay?s doing?quit whining about how much better every other BB game was compared to this one. Quit complaining about how boring we are. Either be positive or shut up about it. It?s getting to the point that I dread opening up the YJCC. Quality is always better than quantity. And quality isn?t just definable by how funny we are. This is ?reality? posting, right? Let us be real.

Now. Onto Jay?s suggestions. I like the chat thread idea. I?m on board. I also like the thought for the day. Challenges are always fun, too. Frankly, I?ll do anything anyone?s interested in doing. Just don?t ask me to be something I?m not. K?

Alright. I've come up with a few ideas.


1. get more interactive. show more pictures, get more personal and get to know eachother better. We could use a picture thread where we all post what we look like..B'cause I have no idea what everyone looks like or who I'm talking too. get an update on what are we doing with our lifes more often..I'm usually the only guy writing a diary.


2. Like souderwan said, why do we have to be funny all the time? this is big brother right? so don't they fight on the show or do some drama or something? I never seen the show but I always see the girls fighting with eachother or over some kid. I mean we are not playing "the last comic standing" right?
