Hey guys, I know some of you are big Williams buffs, and I was wondering how I should go about starting a Williams collection. I have ESB:SE and the Raiders SE, what else should I get and in what order? Rad.

and if yer into his more subtle stuff... A.I. and Schindler's List...

ehhh...you definitely need "HOOK"...John Williams most original work ;).

Seriously though, get "HOOK"...I would also recommend The Star Wars Saga (the "skywalker symphony" recording is a good starter) and the Indiana Jones trilogy ("Temple of Doom" first, and "Last Crusade" well...last). To round it off, get "E.T.", "Schindler's List", "Superman","CEOTTK" and of course "Jurassic Park".

    Definitely "HOOK" first though.

    Cheers!

I won't give you a list. I'll just recomend the next one you buy should be the new E.T. re-release. It's easily in the Williams Top Three (if not Top Five) category.

If instead you want to go to something a little bit dark, go for Close Encounters.

    What is CEOTTK? :)

Edit: Realized "Close Encounters" just as I hit submit. :)

Here's what I have so far, what am I missing? (I think I read not all of A.I. was done by JW, is that true?)

Close Encounters of the Third Kind
    E.T.
    Harry Potter
    Hook
Indiana Jones & The Last Crusade
Indiana Jones & The Temple of Doom
    Jaws
    Jurassic Park
    Patriot
    Raiders of the Lost Ark
    Saving Private Ryan
    Schindler's List
Star Wars - A New Hope
Star Wars - Attack of the Clones (well, next week)
Star Wars - Return of the Jedi
Star Wars - The Empire Strikes Back
Star Wars - The Phantom Menace
    Superman
The Lost World - Jurassic Park

??] and the two-disc re-release of Superman by Rhino should be at the top of your list.

Also, check out used CD stores for copies of JFK and Witches of Eastwick. Both are criminally out of print now, and are excellent scores.

The first thing you should get is "John Williams Greatest Hits". It is a 2-disk set with most, if not all, of his greatest work. I personally like The ultimate Phantom Menace soundtrack, Superman, Schindler's List, Return of the Jedi, The Empire Strikes Back, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.

Get John Williams himself. Lock him in your basement.
Make sure to take care of that collection, it could be worth money some day.

    :D

BTW, this is my 800th post. w00t!

You can't have him. I have the only copy. He's in NM/M condition, though, on a C9 card. I'll take bids.

And this is my...uh...60th or so.
