Let me rephrase: Jesus of Nazareth was a real person (even as a non-christian there's no denying this.)

Whether he was the son of God is up for you to decide.

 

Yes, even that can be disputed. At best the alleged dude from Nazareth is most likely a composite of several historical and mythological figures. Kind of like Anakin. But at least Anakin gets good movies based on him.

His character is rather like Jesus, Hercules, Achilles, or any other figures of myth and legend who were conceived by gods. He has one earthly parent and one divine parent, which makes him a rather interesting human. Personally, I feel Anakin has a great deal in common with Achilles - both characters are consumed by their hubris and their anger until they are able to reconcile their godlike traits with their mortal selves shortly before their deaths.

 

If you really remember what Shmi said to Qui, it was:
