I loathe/despise anytime I have to wear a tie, and don't have the patience to learn how to knot one.

I mix it up depending on the style of tie but usually go with the Windsor.

At least weddings have booze available (open bars, baby. Ain't nothing better than that! ), and I've got serious issues with the very idea of a Christening. However, I don't mind wearing a suit(jacket), though. That piece of formal wear I can deal with.

 

Having said that, I was just at a wedding in Lago d'Orta in the north of Italy. It was 37°C but not humid - so diabolically hot. A suit and tie was a dreadful piece of obligatory clothing. I think mine was a superfine 100s, cut properly with two vents (the centre vent is an Americanism), so it was light for a wool blend suit.

Now, it's true that a linen suit would have been more suited to that climate, but honestly - when else would I wear the bloody thing?

Also, I think that 37°C is roughly 100°F, where F = some primitive measurement that you savages haven't moved on from yet. Maybe 1F = 1 unit of Satan's fire or something.

Also, Lago d'Orta, or Lake Orta - astonishing. It's like Lake Como minus the tourists and George Clooney. The first vision you have of it, you think... oh that's lovely. The second view? Oh, that's lovely. It doesn't diminish. And when you're at a little cafe drinking wine and eating proper pizza and the streets are cobbled, inaccessible to cars and the buildings are 2 stories tall? Postcard Italy.
