JCC How do you respond when people ask you "What's up?"

I take "What's up" as a form of "how are you doing".

Apparently this is not the right way to respond to some people. I say "Im good" and other generic polite statements to the people in the college living center floor but they give me a hard time about it.

Apparently I am not saying it right or I am supposed to say "What's up?" back to them. They are annoying as hell, loud and obnoxious. I really dislike talking to them because they mock me behind my back.

They are like textbook football jocks....they even litter the hall so there are a crapload of insects here...

Anyways, how should I respond to them when they ask me "What's up?"

 

Well, wouldn't that depend on what was up at the time?

 

Sometimes I'm so tempted to respond with "Your penis" when somebody asks me this.

 

tell them to go **** themselves.

 

God damn, Tom... you really are cranky tonight.

 

"I'm doing well, thank you. And yourself?"

 

Answer with "the ceiling". If they are dumb football jocks it should take a few seconds until they get it and by then you have walked away laughing.

 

i didn't get much sleep last night. i need a nap and a hug.

but those guys sound like jerks and i do think boromirsfan should tell them to go **** themselves. it's what boromir would do.

 

I'll admit, I had to check that smile for a hidden link to a message telling me to go **** myself.

 

Go **** yourself.

I believe "sup, brah" is the response they're looking for.

 

A lot of people say, "What's up?" or "How's it going?" as a greeting and don't really want any sort of answer. Thing is, unless I know the person fairly well it's impossible to tell if that's the case. Or any sort of answer besides "fine" is unacceptable because HOW DARE I TRY TO TALK LIKE A REAL PERSON. And it's all awkward and stuff. So I shove them and run away giggling.

The only living being I greet with a "what's up" is my cat. She usually replies with a bored stare, which I think is the appropriate response.

 

"A preposition, but that's not important right now..."
