CT How does Greedo shooting first in any way alter Han's development?

I've always read the dodge as a spontaneous reflex rather than a conscious dodge

 

"It was the Force, and I want you to ******* acknowledge it!"

 

Or Chiun was his mentor at some point.

 

To be fair, stupidity and "mental incompetence" are not really connected to hand-eye-coordination. I mean, you can be an outright idiot and still have decent to exceptional physical skills (Otherwise "dumb jock" wouldn't be such prevalent stereotype). So really, Greedo's incompetent handling of Han (not disarming him) doesn't explain or excuse why he missed him at point-blank range. Just sayin'.

And yeah, I've seen "Pulp Fiction" but my argument stands.

 

For me, not at all. But I can say my neighbor was quite upset because he believed that the purpose was to sanitize Han by making his move one of self defense. I personally didn't care whether he was a scoundrel or a dirty rotten scoundrel - both worked for me. In the end, he was one of the good guys.

Technically, it was always self defense since anyone pointing a gun at you is intending to shoot you. Lucas just made it more explicit.

 

"I reloaded."

 

I don't think it's a big deal or changes his character, but I do prefer Han shooting first.
