    Hi all,

I am Swampsurfer of FanForce Acadiana (based out of Lafayette, LA).

I was wondering what the different groups are doing to organize their camp-out to get good seats lineup activities.

For instance, we intend to establish a designated area for camping out. At this site we would like to have an ongoing LAN party for computer gamers. Possibly costume competitions, trivia games, and the like. However, our delima is how do we control who gets in line first, and how do we keep folks who are not participating in our camp out from getting in line at the theatre entrance and securing a better spot than those who are camping out in the designated area?

PLEASE respond if you have any ideas that may help us organize a successful event.

Our primary method is building a relationship with the theater and making sure they will support our charity line-up event.

Then we take the reins by logging everyone's hours at the line-up, signing up new members and collecting their signed release forms and code of conduct. Have a reasonable set of rules and show people you will fairly conduct the line, and add in all kinds of geek talk and STAR WARS-related fun, and things tend to run pretty smoothly.

Also, it's best if your members who are staffing the line are all in communication and work well together.

What if the theater won't honor a list you produce of liners as taking priority over folks that line-up independant of your CampOut?

I know it is past due, but to answer your last question: Don't bother with them. If they won't support your cause/event, then (1) find a participating theater or (2) just stand in the real line like everyone else and scrap the cause/event. :(

It's a bummer but that's just how it is at some places.
