He'd been in this situation too many times before.

It was inevitable that any Jedi assigned to field work would be familiar with the Healers, but there were some situations that required extensive recuperation periods. The medical transports assigned to the Temple were usually a glorified triage area rather than a functional medical bay. There were comfortable cots used for quick examinations and perfunctory resolutions.

The Solace was one of the few ships dedicated to those who required a more extensive recuperation and he was all-too-familiar with its sort.

It was not as if Obi-Wan were a particularly sickly or accident-prone sort by nature. It was, however, a fact of the matter that the Council tended to send those who needed their mettle tested on the more dangerous missions.

After a full decade, Anakin had more than proved his worth as a Jedi warrior, but in the diplomatic or more conventional senses, he might never merit the Council's trust. As a result and as a result of Anakin's tendency to be the Chancellor's personal choice for particularly delicate missions, they had seen more of this sort of long-term care facility than either of them might care to admit.

Obi-Wan should not have been here at all--his wounds had required a bacta patch on each one and a promise that the Healers would tend to the tissue damage with more care once they had more staff available--but the Council had shown a surprising amount of compassion in allowing him to remain with his Padawan.

With Senator Amidala in the next bed over from Anakin--someone had little common sense or a mischievous nature--it had been a difficult task. Obi-Wan had felt a momentary flash of guilt at the fact that he had been glad when Padme had succumbed to the anaesthetic.

Even worse was the fact that he was relieved to find his Padawan still awake. Anakin, to his knowledge, had not yet allowed himself to slip into unconsciousness, but it was not clear if this was a result of the pain that no anaesthetic could completely blot out or if it were a product of the pain that Obi-Wan understood too well that had nothing to do with physical well-being.

One hundred Jedi had come to Geonosis to pick up the pieces of the latest Kenobi-Skywalker mission and too few remained.

He had no delusions that the fact that the Solace was turning from an intensive treatment facility to a morgue was their fault, but it did not make it any easier to accept. No one would deny that they had been the ones to allow Dooku to escape, that they had been incapacitated when he made his bid for freedom.

They could be blamed for it all under the wrong circumstances and their own minds were always what qualified as the 'wrong circumstances.'

There were many reasons to go to Anakin, since he required reassurance or reconciliation, comfort and care, but there was only one service that he could perform that would aid them both.

So, settling himself into the chair nearest his Padawan, he began with a simple truth.

"You have reason to be proud of yourself."

Thanks to both of you. This won't have a continuation, per se, but will be 'continued' in another fic that i have planned.

You got it done! It is good to "hear" what was in Obi-Wan's mind after Genosis.

    Aww, very nice little story.

I'm glad Obi-Wan was able to remain with Anakin.

I'm sure hearing his master say he had reason to be proud of himself helped Anakin tremendously.

    Great job

Very nice piece from Obi-Wan's POV about after Geonosis. I really liked the ruminations of things that happened then to say what he did to Anakin at the end there.

KELIA--awww, thanks. :) Obi-Wan for all his bluster is a caring master and the comment from Obi-Wan probably contributed to them in ROTS.

Daenarrah--Glad that you liked the thought progression.

Hehe! [face_mischief] Little common sense, Obi? She might be hastening his recovery just by her soothing presence. :p

One hundred Jedi had come to Geonosis to pick up the pieces of the latest Kenobi-Skywalker mission and too few remained.

You wish, Obi-Wan! 100 Jedi came to Geonosis to rescue you :p and you're so lucky that Anakin went along with Padme to find you otherwise, not only would the Jedi still have been massacred, they won't have even had your sorry butt to claim in the end. He's so... [face_devil]

=D= Congratulations on your 100th viggie, Ish! [:D]
