ST How is the blue lightsaber still around?

    Has this ever been explained outside of the films?

    From what I understand, the blue lightsaber Rey wields is the same blue lightsaber both Anakin and Luke Skywalker.

    The problem? Luke lost the blue lightsaber on Cloud City when Darth Vader cut off his hand. As a result, he introduced the green lightsaber in RotJ.

    Yet there it is in Maz's basement decades later.

    An overlooked continuity error, or something that has yet to be explained?

    The vision in TFA was originally going to explain its journey. Hell, the first shot of TFA was going to be Luke's severed hand holding the saber and floating through space.
