Okay, I know we have quite a few travelers on this forums so I was wondering how many countries have you been to?

I personally have been to eleven including the U.S.

    Here is my list:
    USA
    Canada
    Germany
    France
    Ireland
    Italy
    Belgium
    Luxembourg
    The Netherlands
    Switzerland
    Austria

I hope to one day finish off Europe, go to Russia and the UAE.

I have been to Hong Kong and China ... yes, they are now one and the same, however, I went to Hong Kong when Chris Patten was the Governor, ie: before the UK handed HK back to China.

In China, I went to Shezhen (yes, I understand that it is a stone's throw from HK), I also went to Guangzhou.

Nothing says travelling the world like going to all the white people contries.

    DIVERSITY FAIL!!!

Well, he didn't claim to have "traveled the world." Except for Canada those countries could easily be done in one trip.

Anyway, the dark recesses of my mind and heart are the only places I need to visit.

This thread should just ask "have you been to Australia?" Who cares about anywhere else?

I never said he claimed it. However when you post a long list of countries you've been too and not a single nonwhite majority country is on it, that says something.

Lazy storm trooper tell your parents to add diversity to family trips.

Vivec, I absolutely understand what you're saying. When I was a boy, a teacher once told us, "When you're old enough to want to know important or cultured things, you'll travel to Europe." Travel can, as much as anything else, be an expression of our awful cultural biases.

With that caveat, though, you have to actually look at that list, and appreciate the size of Europe. It's not at all outside the realm of possibility that this all represents a single trip abroad. It's one thing to specifically decline several opportunities to learn about other places. But if this represents all the more opportunity he and his family have had, then it's a bit like criticizing poor people for "choosing" to eat fast food instead of having a chef prepare freshly grown organic gourmet food.

Aaaaand it's not at all like Lazy Storm Trooper comes from a military family that was until quite recently stationed at Ramstein base in Germany for four years. Nope! Not. At. All.

I've been to the Bahamas. I got to experience the diversity of the country by being waited on by the local black population working in the tourism industry. Ah, I felt cultured.

UK (England, Scotland, and Wales but not Northern Ireland yet)
    Ireland
    Netherlands

    Finland
    Germany
    France
    Czech Republic
    Austria
    Poland
    Italy
    Vatican City
    Greece
    Israel

So 17. And I'm discovering evidently not having enough money to travel everywhere I'd like to go and only having been able to travel around Europe (plus Israel, but who's counting?) while studying and on scholarship makes me a massive racist. Who knew!

Oh, and I should probably go to Canada sometime. Lol.

New Zealand is indeed very nice and should be deemed to be an addendum to Australia for the purposes of this thread.
