    Just curious. ;)

Keep in mind that it is apparently a TOS violation to post links or suggest where you can find downloads of fan edits.

Three: the original in 1999, the DVD release (which I got in 2005), and the BluRay/3D release.

    I love all three :)

Fan edits are not fan films and the mods apparently consider it a form of piracy.

I haven't seen any of the fan edits if that's what you're asking.

I saw The Phantom Edit. It was ****. Dung. Crap. It looked horrible. It sounded horrible. It was not an edit. It was sloppily cut up with no skill or artistry or reason. If you didn't like TPM before this version could only be worse in every way.

Wow, the results are more bimodal than I would have guessed. I suppose anyone looking for fan edits would be willing to watch more than one.

Frank, have you seen the Fall of the Jedi edits? I thought they did a good job. The most obvious thing was removing 99.9% of Jar Jar.

I have not. Jar Jar is not what bothers me about TPM. I don't think a different edit of the film would do anything good. The things I don't like about TPM are mainly the kid actors and writing.

I'm a Jar Jar and Ewok fan. The multitude of aliens and the lighter tone are two things that set Star Wars films apart from the herd.

    My mistake. I just assumed.

They also eliminated a lot of Anakin's bad lines like the whole "Are you an angel?" exchange. They managed to keep the story intact and find the scenes where Jake Lloyd got good direction.

I've never seen any of the fan edits. Just the 1999 theatrical release, 2005 DVD, and Blu-Ray/3D release. Kinda odd though TPM is the only one I've seen in theaters twice. I'm hoping the rest get 3D releases.

Is there a difference between the 99 theatrical release and the 2005 DVD?

    None.

While TPM is hardly a terrible film, I doubt that I'll ever watch it again in any form.

TPM benefits the most with the removal of Jar Jar, removal of many of Anakin's lines, removal of midichlorians, changing the dialog in the subtitled scenes, removal of the two headed announcers, etc.
