Seeing as some members are seeking membership in the worlds greatest armed forces i thought it would be good to see who else has any military backgrounds or those that would be interested.

I Have over 8 years of service with the Army
    6 years as Military police ( MOS-95B )and 2 years with a Artillery Unit ( MOS-13B )
I only have 11 months of active duty time as I was National guard. but it was alot of fun

My units were; 852 MP company (in Yuma ), 855 MP company ( out of Phoenix ), and the 2/180th Fild artillery unit Charlie battery ( in Chandler ).

I'm in the United States Air Force right now as a systems controller. I'm in the 21st Comm Squadron (21st Space Wing) stationed at Peterson AFB on Colorado Springs, CO. I've been in just over a year (active duty), but I'll be getting out after my 4 years are up...although I'll probably consider going guard or reserve afterward.

My dad went to the Air Force Academy, and has spent 20 years on active duty. My grandpa and three of my uncles are in the Air Force, also. I want to go to the Air Force Academy, just like everyone else in my family. :)

Not looking forward to basic training, though... :p

Oh Basic was easy, but i only say that afterwards. By far air force basic is not all that hard so no worries there, youll find that about half way thru youll not even mind being yelled at. (much) I was lucky with the guard i did a split option enlistment, that is where you do basic the summer between you Junior and senior years of high school and then your specialty school after graduation. The only bad thing was the frist two months of highschool with no hair.

Yeah, my dad told me that the Air Force basic training is definitely the easiest. My mom was in the Air Force too. I forgot about that.

Navy boot camp was almost as easy as the Air Scouts' boot camp. ;) Not bad at all. We folded clothes more than we did anything else, it seems. And learned how to fight fires and stuff. My original plan was to go to the Air Force Academy, and I've spent over 6+ years in the last 14 years volunteering in Civil Air Patrol, which is the USAF Auxilliary. I've slowed down on CAP because I'm spending too much time and $$$ on SW stuff, and can't have another expensive hobby.

I was an EM2/SS (Electrician's Mate 2nd Class, Submarine Warfare qualified E-5). I was on the USS New York City (SSN-696) and the USS Buffalo (SSN-715), based in Pearl Harbor, HI. I also spent a lot of time in Orlando, FL, Ballston Spa, NY, Portsmouth, NH, and travelled to Japan, Korea, Guam, Panama (canal), Alaska, Washington and up the entire east coast and coast to coast. Plus a few other places. ;) (All 4 corners of the CONUS, plus AK and HI. Lotsa travel in 6 years. :D

Now, as you know, I'm in the national guard, with the 1/180th HHB in Mesa as a 13F (I think), Field Artillery Fire Control Specialist. I get to blow stuff up. [face_devil] It's self propelled arty, and is as close to a tank as I can get here in AZ, so it's cool. :)

I originally joined to go to OCS and become an MP ossifer, but my unemployment and subsequent move to AZ stopped that plan for now. This is a 3 year enlistment, and I'm not sure if I'll stick with it more to 20. We'll see. [face_plain]

And, as Chad noticed this weekend, Void and I are very much the military trained, organized, go-getter type of people. Just call me General Kenobi, I guess. Always been that way, always will be. [face_devil]

2 years in Air Education Training Command/OCS before I had to drop out so I could work all hours and move out on my own. I was officially under 25th detatchment/1st Squadron (The Sky Devils)/Alpha flight, but for training I was sent to Luke on some twist of TDY to the 405th Tac Training Wing/461st Tac Fighter Squadron (Deadly Jesters)/Alpha Flight. I was a C3C when I resigned.

    I wish! I wish! I wish! I wish!

As I shared with ObeyWann my chances at a career in the military have been at odds all my life. BUT I WISH!!!!

Hey, Obey, who's you're CO in the national guard here? Just curious. One of my very good friends is a higher up here with the NG, Brad Morse.

If, hypotheticaly speaking, I was thinking of getting on to the Guard. What is the oldset that one can be to get in? How long is basic? How much does it pay. How long after basic can I get in to the specialization school?

CH_00: I am not 100% sure. I'd say call 1-800-GO-GUARD. They'll know all of those answers. A lot of it depends on your ASVAB scores, and availablity of schools.

Pay charts are available online, and boot camp is 8 weeks long. The main Army page has a great multimedia presentation on boot life and what goes on. Check it out, it's worth it.

MJAZ: Not sure who it is, I'll let you know when I know. :)
