So while I see lots of threads here about specific movies and the subject of movies in general, I did not notice anything about moviegoing/theatrical viewings, which is one of my favourite pastimes and I was curious how often you folks head to the theatre. These are the movies I've seen in theatres this year so far...

    Black Panther
    Annihilation
    The Strangers: Prey at Night
    Pacific Rim: Uprising
    Ready Player One
    A Quiet Place
    Rampage
    Avengers: Infinity War
    Deadpool 2
    Solo: A Star Wars Story
    Tag
    Incredibles 2
    Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom

Also caught The Greatest Showman in early January, but I don't count it since it's a 2017 film.

    Avengers: Infinity War
    Solo

I used to go about once a month. But my free time is divided up between sleep and children's birthday parties. [face_plain]

I think I've seen 2 or 3 movies in the theater this year. Last Jedi was one. With Netflix/Amazon/Hulu and a decent television-- plus the fact that I have less interest than ever in major releases-- I haven't really felt the need to fork over the cash very often. I tend to go only when invited by others.

    Blockers
    The Commuter
    Ocean’s 8

    Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri
All the Money in the World
    Hereditary (sadly)

I can’t remember if I saw The Last Jedi in cinemas this year. But I saw it a total of 7 times at the cinemas.

Sadly, I usually only see a movie once in the theater, sadly not enough of them lately.

I usually only see movies in a theater if it's a special event, a movie I'm really interested in, or a favorite venue. I don't go regularly.
So far, if I remember correctly, theater movies so far this year include:
    "Speedy" (revival)
"The Tinger" ("The Mads are Back" show)
    "Space Mutiny" ("Rifftrax Live" show)
    "Incredibles 2"
    "Solo" (Four times)
So far, upcoming movies I'm definitely planning on seeing are "Krull" (another "Rifftrax Live" show) in August, the double feature of "The Blob" and "Creature from the Black Lagoon" (in 3-D!) at next week's Blobfest, and a revival of "Phantom of the Opera" (with live organ accompaniment) in October. And I'll try and get out to the drive-in a couple more times, if something reasonably good is playing.

Star Wars and DC. Everything else can wait for digital release.

So four times in the last two plus years.

    11 this year, probably.

    So far:
    Black Panther
    Avengers: Infinity War
    Deadpool 2
    Solo: A Star Wars Story
    Incredibles ii
    Ant-Man and The Wasp

Assuming reviews aren’t terrible, I’ll add Christopher Robin, Aquaman, Wreck it Ralph and Mary Poppins to the list (by choice).

DC and SW fanboy growing up, seeing two films from them combined and four from Marvel [face_plain]

Avengers: Infinity War, Black Panther and Solo.

My son loves Ant-Man so I might get to that one before it leaves.

I go to the theatre about 30-40 times a year. So far this year I've seen 22, which is a little more than I'd seen at this point last year (19, with a total of 36 for all of 2017). Yes, I keep track of all this. :p

Here's what I've seen this year-

    Darkest Hour
    The Disaster Artist
    The Shape of Water
    Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle
    The Post
    Phantom Thread
    Black Panther
    Call Me By Your Name
    I, Tonya
    Game Night
    The Death of Stalin
    Ready Player One
    Isle of Dogs
    Chappaquiddick
    Avengers: Infinity War
    Tully
    Super Troopers 2
    Deadpool 2
    Solo: A Star Wars Story
    The Incredibles 2
    Ocean’s 8
    Leave No Trace

All thanks to MoviePass. I realize their business model is less than stable, but hell if I'm not gonna enjoy it while it lasts.

So far this year I've been to the theater 5 times, I believe.

The Last Jedi (for the second viewing)
    Solo (2X)
    Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom

And best of all, I finally saw 2001: A Space Odyssey on the big screen last Saturday and it was amazing. Like seeing it for the first time.

I'll see Aquaman when it comes out and probably go with my sister to see Mary Poppins too. Other than that, nothing else planned. Oh, I still need to see Infinity War; might see if it's still playing somewhere, perhaps at the discount theater that sells food.

I live in the middle of nowhere, in a town where the closest theater is a couple of hours away, so I only go to the theater when my wife and I agree on a movie we both want to watch. We have vastly different tastes in movies, so we end up watching popcorn fare (like Star Wars or the MCU) or some very specific things we both agree on (heist films, for example: we've watched both Logan Lucky and Ocean's Eight). Anything else: streaming and rentals.

So dunno, maybe six to ten times a year.

So far this year it was Solo - twice. I have all the Sky movie channels so I tend to wait til a film is on one of them to see it.

I smell a major investment opportunity in your town. Perhaps a retro drive in theater
