How old are Luke, Han, et al, supposed to be?

Do you mean 23 in ANH or in ROTJ?

He could have been 23 in ROTJ. If in ANH he was 18 and ROTJ takes place 5 years later, then that makes him 23.

Well, I've never seen a source that said that, and besides, he doesn't look that old.

Besides, wouldn't it be a little skeevy if he'd started coming on to Leia when she was half his age?

 

ESB is 4 years after ANH and ROTJ is 1 year after ESB, so that would be 5 years total.

But that did happen! Look at Harrison and Callista Flockheart!

 

ESB is 3 years after ANH, and ROTJ 1 after ESB. Would the timeline in the NJOs lie? Or the one on TF.N (if it's up again)?

No way. I mean, Ben was an old goat in ANH . Unless Ben's race ages very quickly (except he looks about 20 in TPM) and Qui-Gon ages a lot more slowly...


BTW, I always heard Luke was 17 in ANH

 

Well, Obi-Wan had a much more stressful life than Qui-Gon, so that almost certainly played in. Qui-Gon also seemed much more laid back and presumably did more meditating and took better care of himself.

By that same token, Vader aged very badly (battle scars aside) because he went through a lot of the same stresses.

Off-topic, I think it's interesting how Vader's and Obi-Wan's lives so often parallel one another.

 

Also, when one lives in a tough enviroment for an extended amount of time, ones physical age often increases. In the hot, dry, dusty atmosphere of Tatooine, it is not surpising that Ben aged so quickly.
