Then I'll take the opportunity to turn this thread in a slightly new and disturbing direction - yet still remaining true to the title...

At puberty, human females have all of their ova. You were one of those eggs. So, in part, you are as old as your mother. Who is as old as her mother, who is as old as her mother, ... etc

So how old are you REALLY?

    Who said science is boring?

At puberty, human females have all of their ova.

Actually, I think you mean at birth?

To take your concept further, Oz, given that our bodies are made up of atoms (released from the massive explosions of dying stars), and these atoms come originally other atoms (Hydrogen) which came from sub atomic particles, which came soon after the big bang, lets pose that question again.

    How old are you really?

The answer: 10-15 Billion years old.

Does this mean I'm now old enough to get a pension? :D

Anyways, in keeping with the original topic I'm 21.

Puberty or birth. I knew it was one or the other. I figured puberty was a sure bet.

Of course, there's the theory that the universe is constantly oscillating - expanding and collapsing and expanding again - and that the big bang was just one of an infinite number ... so you're like ... infinitely old ... if you want to go the atomic theory

Sure, but the latest info has thrown the big crunch out of the window.

Scientists are now leaning towards a forever expanding universe.

This indicates that oscillation might not have been the case.

And not only that, but no matter what happened before the big bang, it doesnt count, because scientists use the big bang as a frame of reference, so time itself didnt exist prior to this event.

Hence, we can only say that the universe (and us) is only as old as the big bang.

True, since time is only a measure of the movement of space ... you need space for time to exist ... no space, no time.

Who said SW fans were geeks?

To me, the amount of revoluions of the sun does not make a difference. To me, it's the amount of knowlage one has learnt in his/her life...
