I want to know the answer, if there is any official one but I'm guessing between 150-200 years

WELL it is hard to imagine being in your 40's and Kicking Vong a$$ eg.Luke,Liea,Han,Wedge....

Further more what about Garm Bel Iblis he's like 80 years old now and he's still strong.

It's hard to say. On Bakura they live well past 100, but in TTT Luke seems VERY surprised the C'baoth could be over a hundred, so it's probably significantly less than that on Tatooine.

Considering that this is 25,000 years in the future, it seems unrealistic that they would live only as long as we do.

It's not the 'when' but the 'what' of their medical technology that makes it hard to believe that their life span is the same as ours. Bacta that stimulates the growth of new cells. Cybernetic implants and prosthetics that can replace organs and limbs. Medical droids. Even the non-medical technology suggests that medical care should be cheaper and more accessible to everyone.

They apparently haven't found a method to reverse the aging process yet, however, so on a cellular level aging will still occur and there will be an 'upper limit' to how old someone can get without constant rejuvenation, but it should be considerably longer than our own current life expectancy.

I think they live about the same as people here. Look at Roa for instance, Han said he was well over 70 and had to get a lot of surgery done to look a little younger. Plus we don't see many other people all that old (human anyway).

Question: Does bacta just speed up the healing process by stinulating cells to grow faster?

I ask becasue maybe in the GFFA they haven't exactly found the "cure" (since its not really a disease) to aging. If cells the same as they do here, continual cell division results in a lot of DNA replication. When it replicates, short pieces of DNA are kind of forgotten at the end of the strand, these are telomeres and are prety much useless, else we would be cutting into our genes. Its thought (by some) that aging has to do with the epletion of the telomeres and the slow cutting of our genes when our cells replicate. When the useless DNA runs out important pieces at the end of the strand begin to be left out, hence we start getting old. If they haven't solved this problem in the GFFA, then they would age and die about the time as us, though they may probably live a little longer due to advanced tech.

Also if this was true, then using bacta would make you age faster because it would make your cells divide faster and lose more DNA to replicative failures...

what's so wierd about Luke or other people his age still kicking Vong a$$? being 40 is old, but it doesn't make u incapable of doing things that u can do when you're in ur 20's

ummm, darth, he actually said "this" is 25 000 years in the future and its therefore unlikely THEY would live as long as WE do.

But thats irrelevant unless we are from the same geneline as them... which i presume we aren't

That future thing is getting me as well. Unlike Star Trek, Star Wars has always been set in the distant past, and in a distant galaxy. While not being real at all, the concept of aligning Star Wars with actual history in the way Lucas did is a part of it's appeal. It's similar to Galaxy Quest in a way. While that movie seemed more like a spin on Star Trek, the similarity is between us and the aliens that Tim Allen and the gang were suppose to be helping. For those who have seen the movie, you'll recall how they thought the transmissions of the show were actually historical documents. That's where the similarity is. Though we know what the movies, novels, comics, etc. really are, because they are set a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, we could always decide to claim that their historical documents that worked their way to earth. Certainly there may well be some fans who actually think that, who forget that all of it is entertainment.

They apparently haven't found a method to reverse the aging process yet, however, so on a cellular level aging will still occur and there will be an 'upper limit' to how old someone can get without constant rejuvenation, but it should be considerably longer than our own current life expectancy.

This shouldn't matter, since by virtue of having medical tech that is far and away superior to our own, the average length of a human life, especially in the Core Worlds, should be in excess of over 100 years.

Simple things like good food, hygene, sanitary conditions, simple surgery, clean bandages, etc. did a great deal more for the length of human life on Earth than anything else.

If somehow by magic we eliminated violence from the planet, you could probably add 5-10 years on to the global average of life expectancy, especially for males.

Similarly, if the average well-run AD&D campaign suddenly became 'real' and providing your character and their friend the priest didn't die on their adventures (sword through the head, eaten by a dragon, etc.), they should also live a very long life, thanks to things like all of the curative spells, especially Cure Disease and Heal since both utterly destroy diseases- even the big ones, and that would go a long way to making people live longer.
