Okay, I decided to ut it up today

Jacen woke up with the biggest headache he had ever had. He decided to go back to sleep. An hour later he woke up again, and the headache hadn?t lessened much. He dragged himself out of bed and into his refresher unit.

Jacen washed his face in cold water, feeling the stubble of a beard on his cheeks. He ignored it and groped around for a painkiller. Once he found the bottle, he took two pills and washed them down with a glass of water.

His memory of the previous night came back to him. He and Kyp had stayed at the bar after their pledge, drinking. They had kept ordering. Jacen tried to remember. How many had he had? He couldn?t remember, but it had been a lot. He didn?t remember coming back to his room at all . . . he just remembered being miserable, and trying to drown out the memories. He thought that Kyp had had a few more drinks than he had.

Jacen winced when his comlink started beeping. He made his way over to the bed and looked through the sheets, which was where the noise was coming from. He finally found it and answered it. ?Hullo?? he asked in a bleary voice.

?Jacen? It?s Uncle Luke.?

?Oh. Hi.?

?Where were you last night? I called you several times.?

?Oh.? Jacen looked?he had several missed calls. ?Sorry. I was out.?

?Mara and I need to talk to you and Anakin. Can you come over for dinner tonight??

?Uhh . . . yeah, sure.?

?Jacen, are you okay? You don?t sound too great,? Luke questioned, worried about his nephew.

?Uncle Luke, my best friend?s funeral was yesterday. What do you think?? Jacen said quietly.

?I?m sorry,? Luke replied. ?I?m just worried about you.?

?I?ll be fine. See you tonight.?

It was only after Jacen cut the connection that Luke realized that he hadn?t asked where his nephew had gone after the funeral.

Tahiri smiled gratefully at Anakin as he handed her a glass of water. ?Thanks,? she said. She took a sip of the water and swished it around in her mouth before spitting it into the sink.

?I?m getting worried about you,? her boyfriend said. ?Are you sure you?re not sick??

Tahiri shrugged. ?I have no idea. Maybe you should stay away from me for a few days.?

?Yeah, and maybe Hoth should melt,? Anakin replied, kissing her cheek softly. ?But seriously, Tahiri, I?m worried about you. I think you should go see Cilghal.?

Tahiri sighed. ?Okay, fine. I?ll make an appointment.? She stepped past Anakin and out of the refresher.

Anakin followed her. ?Do you want me to go with you??

?You?re very sweet, but I can go by myself.? She smiled. ?Ben can come with me while you?re at your uncle?s. He needs to be looked at anyway?routine check-up.? Tahiri was babysitting for Anakin?s cousin again.

Anakin infolded her in his arms. ?You?re very maternal,? he commented.

Tahiri snuggled up again him. ?It?s weird. I?ve been feeling, sometimes in the last few weeks, like I?m his mother instead of Mara. I don?t know why.?

Anakin shrugged. ?You?ve always liked kids, and he?s so tiny it?s hard not to be protective.?

Tahiri nodded. ?That must be it.?
