How was The Force discovered?

    I've never read any of the books so I'm not sure if this is in them or not.

    But who discovered The Force? Who was the first to wield it's powers? Who was the first Jedi? The first Sith?

    I was thinking about making a movie about this. But of course, I'll need some background if there is an answer. Also, if you could let me know what book this is discussed in, that would be great.

    Also, was the whole Midichlorian (sp?) thing sort of a cop out by Lucas? I was a bit upset about hearing about it. Thoughts? Feelings? Cookies?
