because Spielberg >>(infinity)>>>> J.J. and here's why.
Okay. I'm not a big fan of Star Trek 09 either but I'm willing to give the guy a chance. I'm nervous about it but I'll wait until I have seen the film to pass judgment on the job J.J. did. I also have total faith in Michael Arndt and George Lucas to craft a wonderful story and Kathleen Kennedy to oversee things. That's just my stance on it though. I'll just wait to see.
My ideal scenario is:
VII - Abrams
VIII - Spielberg
IX - Lucas
Although I would also like:
VII - Abrams
VIII - Johnston
IX - Spielberg
Well back on to topic rather than feeding into thread highjackers whining, I wouldn't personally care do Spielberg directing one of the films. I think his science fiction and adventure work is not for me personally. I loved what he did with Lincoln though. First film of his in a very long time that I loved.
Spielberg is soooo mainstream though.
What I really need is a director who understands the swashbuckling language of Michael Curtiz.
Honestly I don't want Spielberg anywhere near SW.
IMO, and I've said it before numerous times, I expect the next chapter to be darker and I would want david Fincher to direct it. Then I would have Matt Vaughn conclude. And this is all under the premise that Dinsey/LFL doesn't give JJ or JJ doesn't want to continue.
