I know facts. My uncle is a millionaire thanks to Dubai ... facts enough for me.

 

The fact that such a wealthy government with a relatively well-run police force (for the Middle East) declines to release crime statistics implies intent to conceal the crime rates.

And I've been to some pretty bad areas in the U.S. (by reputation, at least), and I didn't get shot; that might've been due to the fact that I wasn't alone, but I'm not falling for your American baiting.

I would say that you don't "get" American culture and you watch way too many 50 Cent videos and too much cable news.

Actually when it comes to excess, no one can really top rich arabs. more money than brains.

However I was talking in terms of the way they run thier governments & civil services. Just because America does things a certain way, you shouldnt expect another culture to be the same. But Americans trying to understand another culture? Theyd have to figure out thier own before moving on to such a large task

 

You can easily be both. You could have both an exaggerated view of violence in the United States and intentionally exaggerate that viewpoint in order to antagonize others. It's a double exaggeration!

Oh, I didn't say they necessarily have to compile crime statistics (though it probably would be in any government's best interest to do so); I was challenging your assertion that the crime rate in Dubai is necessarily low or nonexistent, when there is absolutely no data to point either way.

 

Right on the one hand we have
- me someone who has been there twice in the last year, has an uncle who lives there & has made a fortune. Ive met many people from the country & talked to countless about thier city, & its pros/cons
