I think most everyone has a moment here or there. Be it out of anger or humor. I think each and everyone person, if they were recorded every second, would end up in the news at some point.

    Do most people say this?

As you probably guess, the words with six stars are instances of the "N word" I do like how Hogan agrees you in the middle of his racist rant.

I'd actually like to see this go to the Supreme Court. Jurisprudence on Freedom of the Press in the US is incredibly lenient on the press (Jerry Falwell being conceived in an outhouse and all) would be interesting to see some limits be set.

Gawker is disgusting and they deserve to have this penalty slapped on them. According to reports, the jury also could make the amount higher if they decide to award punitive damages (which seems likely). I won't mind at all if Gawker goes under.

I'm sure we would have eventually found out Hulk Hogan was a terrible racist at some other point without the sex tape... not that I'm sure why either is relevant to me, seeing as I've independently thought about or concerned myself with Hulk Hogan exactly 0 times. This case is the first time I've really heard anything about him outside of maybe 1990s commercials.

Still, everyone deserves court protection against revenge porn, their private photos being hacked, and their sex tapes being leaked. No matter who they are.

    ...wha...i...just...huh?!

I don't see how any reasonable person would think that such behavior is acceptable. I obviously don't know you or your experiences, but I have a very diverse group of friends and colleagues (people of various ethnicities, sexual orientations, religions, etc) and I, for one, never refer to someone I dislike with a hateful slur. Being a brown person in the US, I've been the recipient of such demeaning vocabulary (vocabulary used by people who don't even acknowledge the fact that you're an individual person with your own life experiences, dreams, family, etc--so they refer to you as though you're an incomprehensible object or something).

Whether in private or public, such vocabulary is evidence of an ignorant and perhaps bigoted thinking pattern.

Or maybe you just got smashed from behind by a 300 pound guy. And you tell the story to your friends using the words "fat ass." Or you find out your girl cheated on you and use the word "slut." It happen in moments of anger. At least it does to humans. Maybe you are a Vulcan or created by Dr. Soong.

But people say and do things they don't mean and are out of character for them when they are mad. Or drunk. It happens.

you seem pretty intent on defending hulk hogan's hate speech. you really think someone who's not racist at all can just drop a bunch of n-bombs preceded by the f-word because they're "mad or drunk". that's just a normal human thing to you?

I don't know. I've seen husbands and wives say some pretty horrendous things about and to each other in the heat of passion that they clearly don't mean. Each and every single one of us have said and done things we didn't mean.

Anyone...anyone who says that they haven't is simply a liar or is Christ Himself.

J-Rod if a Democrat said what Hogan said you'd be using it as a triumphant "a HA!" moment. You know he's a bad person for saying this and deserves a tarnished reputation. Stop being disingenuous.

If this is true (and it isn't) and acceptable (it isn't), why would Hogan have been angry? Because his daughter was dating a black man? And why would he be angry at that unless he was a racist?

Well, I could give the same answer people give when they hold a Republican to task for infidelities yet still support Clinton. A Democrat lectures me about being politically correct. So they can't deviate. They must be held to a higher standard. (Man, this is fun!)

Or I could wonder how the Democrats can turn the word "faggot" into the new "F" word and still let Alec Baldwin get away with it.

She wasn't even dating the guy. Hogan was pissed because Brooke went to another producer and manager and left Hogan and his team behind. So he was hurt and angry. So he said what he said.

J-Rod. Hogan's a bad person. There's nothing more that needs to be said. It's true without "but, so and so did this!" tacked on.

Yours is a typical Republican response (it reminds me of the indignation when people pointed to Abu Grahib abuse; "But what Saddam did was worse!"). Stop it. You bang on about personal accountability - practice what you preach.

Ender, Hogan is probably not a great person, but saying a bad thing once isn't evidence of that. As loathe as I am to appear to be siding with J-rod on anything, 'but, so and so did this' tacked on is sometimes important. You a couple of years ago, in the thread about wikileaks, called the now Chelsea Manning a Sodomite in anger. A strange thing to call someone, considering that's a religious person's insult, but it's something you said in anger due to feeling as if your work and the lives of people you came into contact with were endangered. Are you a bad person for that?

Uh, J-Rod, why should Hilary be held accountable for Bill? He's responsible for his own actions, not his wife.

Oh how you must have held that for a long time in your petulant anger folder Vivienne. Deary me! Still doesn't make the inevitable loss of Bernie Sanders my fault though.

And I think we know I'm a bad person, don't we? Or have I not conveyed that enough?

Indeed, which raises the question of why your default position is "sulking behind mother's skirts"?

I answered your question. I don't think we've ever harboured any illusions over what I am.

I did't mean it that way. I meant that Bill Clinton isn't looked at with scorn. Neither is Alec Bauldwin. But oh boy, let the Hulkster say something and all mention of him is wiped from the record books. It's not very even handed.
It's nothing more than that he is a childhood hero of mine.
Everyone say bad things. And that's my point. Luckily we don't have mics in our faces when we say them.

Even Donald Sterling, as horrible as he is, didn't let his beliefs affect his hiring and managerial habits. Is it wrong to think politically incorrect if it doesn't affect your actions? Should that be a punishable offence? It's an interesting question.

And to be clear, Hogan isn't a bad person and Sterling is. So it isn't a great comparison.

J-Rod Are you from the future?

If so, what is it like?

Why did you travel back in time?

    *Does ASOIAF end properly?

Does Hasbro fix their distribution and range of figures?

Do we ever get the EU in Live action?

Do we ever get a perfect X-Men film?

(I hope you are allowed to answer these questions)

Interestingly, the plot thickened yesterday and intersects with the US Presidential election. Donald Trump has threatened to change the libel laws in the US to be more like the UK (i.e. less strict)... and now we come to determine that one of his major supporters (and a rich Libertarian in California) is behind the Gawker lawsuit...
