CT Hypothetical - Recast the OT for 2015

I'm not arguing for or against doing it. This is just a hypothetical. Who would you cast today in the roles?

Here are my thoughts, I'm not finished though:

Luke Skywalker: Jessie Plemons (he might be too old?)
Han Solo: Norman Reedus
Princess Leia: Jennifer Lawrence (not sold on her, but she seems a strong candidate)
Ben Kenobi: Morgan Freeman
Darth Vader (Voice): Hugo Weaving
Governor Tarkin: Benedict Cumberbatch
C-3P0: Jim Parsons

THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK

What ideas do people have? Who would you cast?

 

It would be quite something for John Lithgow to be able to have played both Yoda and Palpatine!

 

I wouldn't in the way you mean. I would simply flip Cushing and Guiness' parts. Personally, I think it'd be a much better fit.

 

Those two fellas would do a pretty decent job of anything.

 

They would at that. Agreed. I base my statement on that Alec and Peter's leadership styles seem very different. Alec seems more comfortable with command and giving orders whereas Sir seems much more inclined to obey and serve.

 

I can definitely see PC doing a fine job of the kindly, but haunted by the past element of Obiwan. Sir Alec could certainly pull off the ruthlessness of Tarkin.

 

You know Morgan Freeman is black, right?

 

I would actually switch these two. In my opinion, Benedict's voice is more suitable for Vader, and Weaving would make a good Tarkin.

Both Vader and Tarkin have stunning vocal talents behind them already. Some things shouldn't be tapered with.

 

As the OP says, it's only hypothetical. I'm just saying that that particular element would be particularly hard to replicate.

If Hiddleston was older, he would make a great Tarkin. It's all in the cheekbones. Also I find it funny that Cumberbatch was fancasted as Tarkin, given I have a friend who said something comparing Cushing to Cumberbatch for whatever reason the other day.

 

I don't know how many here like the site Moviepilot, but one had included Emma Watson as Leia, with Bradley Cooper as Han Solo and Andrew Garfield as Luke. I forgot who he had as Obi-Wan, but he had two possibilities for Tarkin: Jeremy Irons and Christoph Waltz. He kept Vader and the Emperor the same.

 

I don't know why I didn't think of Larry the cable guy for the Porkins, that would be funny and would suit better than gold leader.
