CT Hypothetical: Would you have taken Darth Vader up on his offer if you were Luke Skywalker?

His offer to rule the galaxy together as father and son.

Why or why not?

 

I wouldn't want to rule the Galaxy, but I might have taken the offer out of fear and plan/hope to escape later.

 

I'd have helped Vader kill Sheev and then I'd say, "Since Sheev's gone, there's no need to use the dark side anymore."

Nope. Vader was a Sith Lord and a servant of an evil empire, and you're a fool if you trust one of them.

 

I would have done it.. only because I would have planned to double cross him at a later stage

I know it's not the right choose, but it's my father so I would never kill him and it would be a hard thing to resist.

Same here. Luke didn't have it in his heart, nor do I.

 

If my dad asked me to help him run a garage sale I would probably decline, so ruling the galaxy is a definite no; Especially if he had cut my hand off like a minute earlier.

I think you nailed it really well. We can all think we will be the hero when most of us would join him so we could live because surviving is a human instinct and we uay try are hardest to abide by it.

Of course there would be some to say no but probably not a lot.

Yes, but just to get rid of the Emperor and reform the Galaxy without Palpatine at the helm as well as help Lord Vader back to the "light".

 

Either Luke trusted the Force would help him survive his fall, or he actually preferred taking his chances with death over joining the dark side.

If I were Luke and I felt the Force telling me to take a literal leap of faith, I would do it.

If I were Luke and I did not feel the Force telling me this, I would join Vader either as a double agent or until I saw an opportunity to escape.

What he was asking of Luke was to give in to evil so no. I would have done likewise.

Never. The Empire killed Luke's adoptive family, and the only real friend he had growing up was killed in the battle to destroy the Death Star. They tortured Leia there and blew up her home planet, then tortured Han when they laid a trap for Luke. If that was me, there's just no way.
